one. This is a lovely event and the children take great pride in choosing what they think is the perfect present. So please support your PTA in this event and help them to raise funds for your childrens school. If you would be willing to help with wrapping or on the day between 9.00am and 12.00 noon then please let Louise Berry or Gillian Jones know eitherin the playground or via the office. After the Wrap (and please return your forms asap) it's full steam ahead to Easter - our next event is an EASTER DISCO on 16th March and we'll be asking for volunteers to help on the day and with shopping, etc. Please let us know via the office if you can spare any time, even an hour, to help us make this a fun event. The next PTA meeting is on Wednesday 29th February 6.30pm, and we'll be organising a "Healthy" Big Breakfast on 23rd March. We really need your help to make these events work (and to be held at all!) so please do what you can! World Book Day It's WORLD BOOK DAY next Thursday, March 1st and, although we have had our Oakdale Book Week this year,we would really like to celebrate the occasion. We are inviting the children to either dress up as their favourite character from a book, or bring their favourite book to school with them and be prepared to talk about the reasons why they like it. We will celebrate the day during assembly time with the whole schooland throughout the day in our normal Literacy activities.

Paralympian Michael Smith We are eagerly looking forward to the visit from Michael Smith who is competing in the football at the Paralympics. He is visually impaired and will be demonstrating how the game is played and giving children a chance to have a go blindfolded! Sport Relief We will be doing various challenges for Sport Relief related to the Olympic sports that we are focusing on. We would very much like to do a rowing challenge so we will need some rowing machines. So, if you have one tucked away at home that we could use, then please get in touch via the office.

Glasbury House Outdoor Education Centre Glasbury House is under threat of closure as the Council is reducing (and possibly withdrawing) any subsidy. We strongly support Glasbury House and know it has enormous benefits for our children. Many parents also went to Glasbury house as children themselves and still have very fond memories. We are doing our utmost to find ways to send additional groups but now we are asking for your help too. Please follow this link and sign the epetition that has been set up by a support group within the local authority. Thanks. www.save-glasbury.org
