The Department of Civil Engineering at IITR is the oldest and the largest in the country and is considered as the

best in the country for education in Civil Engineering. The department has had a glorious past since its inception in October 1847. This department offers doctoral programmes in various fast growing fields like environmental engineering and geomatics engineering. The research programmes of the department are funded by various agencies such as UGC, CSIR, DST, MOST, ISRO, MHRD, AICTE, DRDO etc. Apart from imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students and conducting high quality of research the faculty also render technical advice on live engineering problems to various agencies in the form of high paying consultancy projects. Through this event, which attracts participation from colleges all over India, students are given a platform to bring out the engineer within them by presenting their own ideas on how to solve some of the leading challenges in today s world.
