PGA is a synthetic, absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of 100% glycolide. PGA is coated to allow for easier passage through tissue with minimal drag and smooth tie down for precise knot placement.

PGLA is a synthetic, absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. PGLA is coated to allow for easier passage through tissue with minimal drag and smooth tie down.

Chromic Catgut is treated with chromium salt solution to resist body enzymes, extending absorption time to over 90 days. Tensile strength is retained for 14-21 days with absorption complete after 90 days.

Plain Catgut is an absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of highly purified collagen ribbons of bovine or sheep intestine processed into monofilament strands. Tensile strength is retained for 10 days with absorption by 70 days.

Nylon is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6. Nylon sutures elicit minimal inflammatory reaction in tissue. Nylon sutures are available in either black or blue.

Silk is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of an organic protein called fibroin. DemeTECH coats its Silk with silicon to limit absorption and minimize tissue reaction.

Polypropylene is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of a synthetic linear polyolefin. It is not subject to degradation or loss in tensile strength, and elicits minimal inflammatory reaction in the tissue.

Polyester is a non-absorbable, sterile, surgical suture composed of Polyethylene Terephthalate. Polyester sutures are uniformly coated to provide an improvement in the physical properties of the suture and are not subject to degradation in vivo.
