NETS Standards Addressed NETS-T standards addressed: 4. 2. Identify cyber bullying and its effects

3. Discuss how our use of technology affects others 4. Identify issues/inappropriate digital etiquette

Required Resources The following resources will be necessary for the PDLM presentation Laptop or desktop computer with internet access (preferably high speed) Access to (and familiarity with) Blackboard, Wimba, and online survey technology. Headset for interaction with Wimba MS Office (Power Point, Word)

Activity description/tools PDLM Plan: Most of the lesson will be conducted within PowerPoint on Wimba. The participants will share examples of occasions when they were annoyed by someone elses use of technology, and explain what they did in these situations. After a brief review of the participants discussion, we will discuss the following questions: How should people act online? Why is it different from their offline behaviors? What is your definition of Digital Etiquette?

Instructor will explain Digital Etiquette and utilize the YouTube clip below to explain digital etiquette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dumMk6da-U&feature=related The instructors will post the Digital Rules for participants to view. Participants will observe an aspect of digital etiquette (cyber bullying) Participants will discuss how good digital manners can be taught to students and enforced throughout the school community. Lesson will conclude with an summary of what was discussed, further resources that might be of interest, and directions on how to answer a training evaluation

Extension Idea Ask participants to share what they have done with their students to improve digital etiquette. Teaching Tips Engage participants in discussion. Assessment Issues Participants will be asked to fill out a training evaluation form online.
