But if youve never stepped into the pleasant ambience of our caf /restaurant, or never browsed our shelves of Italian ingredients and utensils, here, in equal order of importance, are ten excellent reasons to make your first visit. 1) Our Approach We know from our research and feedback that its the O&F concept great food, great environment and above all great customer relations that keeps people coming back. We believe its important to inform customers of our menu changes, special evening events and to generally keep people abreast of whats happening at O&F. In short, quality across the board is what our business is all about. 2) The Health benefits The health benefits of Mediterranean foods have long been recognised and are almost too numerous to list in one or two short paragraphs! At O&F were proud of the positive impact our foods have. Olive oil, particularly the Extra-Virgin variety stocked by O&F, contains high levels of anti-oxidants such as polyphenols, not found in other oils. Epidemiological (the science of health events and their frequency) studies suggest olive oil can prevent certain types of tumours in the breast, prostate, endometrium and digestive tracts, and introducing olive oil to a diet that has changed in no other way has been shown to reduce blood pressure.

The Mediterranean diet as a whole has a very high level of antioxidants, and in 2008, separate reports published in the British Medical Journal credited the Mediterranean diet with reducing incidence of Type 2 diabetes, lowering the chances of developing Parkinsons and Alzeimers and reducing overall, cancer and cardiovascular deaths by 9%, 9% and 6% respectively. 3) Quality products At O&F we only ever stock the finest quality products, sourced from farms and suppliers that we know and trust. So whether its our first press Extra Virgin Olive Oil, our 100% Arabica coffee, our 12 year old Balsamic vinegar or one of our exotic seafoods, we take pleaure in the fact that only the various highest quality goods make it into our stores. 4) Our Traditions Founded in Genoa in 1999, Olio & Farina has been establishing itself across Europe since 2005. Our name translates as Oil and Flour and refers to the ingredients used to make the traditional Genovese bread focaccia. The old customs of Genoa and Liguria are at the heart of everything we do. Indeed, the name for our shop La Bottega comes from the word denoting the workshop of a master craftsman, a person who took pride in crafting only the highest quality goods, and from whom apprentices and students would learn. This passion for quality and tradition defines Olio & Farina.

5) The Caf Whether its a Capuccino, Espresso or Latte youre after, at O&F we sell coffee throughout the day, and it can be enjoyed inside or taken away. Our coffee is 100% Arabica and were confident its the best. Yet our Cafs do so much more, and you can enjoy a lunch of Gnocchi alla Portofino or Rigatoni all'Amatriciana for instance, or if youre in a hurry, try the famous Panini, which at lunch time is ubiquitous across Italy. And in the evening why not stop for an aperitivo? Served from about 4:30 in the afternoon, an aperitivo can take the form of a beer, wine or a cocktail, which is accompanied by focaccia, meats, olives or savoury snacks. 6) The Bottega The Bottega is more than a shop. Were confident that youll love what we have to offer, and we want to prove that before you buy, which is why you can test our fine Italian products in our sampling zone. Yet without a commitment to the environment our ethos on freshly sourced food and passion for quality would be meaningless, which is why we have our refilling corner. Simply bring your used olive oil bottles to us, and well happily refill them, cutting down on waste and preserving the earths resources. 7) The Food In addition to our famous Focaccia we stock Italian produce of every kind, ranging from pastas to honeys to seafoods such as octopus salad or Bottarga (also known as poor mans caviar). Fresh products, such as our cheeses and sauces, come from selected farms that are run according to ancient traditions and natural methods.
