Motion Gaming

Games are By Brijesh Valera no longer about punching University Ahmedabad keys

What's in it?
New generation gaming experience Beyond High-end visuals and makes game play real by facilitating PHYSICAL involvement Offers reality experience Player feels fully involved through physical gestures & movements

Motion Capture Technology

Process of recording movement and translating that movement onto a Digital model. Used in Military, Entertainment, sports, medical applications and for robotics. Also in Film-making, It refers to recording actions of human actors and using that information to animate Digital character models in 2D or 3D computer animation.

Motion Capture System

Where actor is performing and the motion capture system can capture the props as well as actors performance. A computer processes the data and displays the movements of the actor, providing the desired camera positions. Camera movements and stage driven by Camera Operator (having main roll in that). Having 200 or more cameras.

How to catch that Motion?

Here, Performer wears markers near each joint to identify the motion by the positions. Markers can be : LED Marker, Magnetic or Reflective or Combination of these all. But, this is all terms of making digital characters and with giving reality experience. You have enjoyed it in the movie AVTAR.

Devices in Motion Gaming

Motion sensing MEMS such as : Accelerometer Gyroscope Magnetometer This all are fully involved in any Motion controllers & Game pads. The combination of MEMS and gaming software can create an experience where the user feels that he/she is a part of the game.

Motion Sensing MEMS

Accelerometer will detect linear acceleration. So it provide signal about movements in all dimensions. Gyroscope will detect angular acceleration and can provide accurate information about tilt, turn, rotation or movements around an axis- even vertical axis. Magnetometer uses the earths magnetic field to a implement a compass or directions into games.

Turn to Motion Gaming Consoles

Idea of using accelerometer as the user interface in mainstream gaming was taken by Nintendo Wii consoles controller. Wiimote, which resembles a remote and has a three-axis accelerometer and gyroscopes to detect motion.

Motion Gaming Market

The console gaming market is mainly covered by

Microsoft Xbox

Nintendo Wii

Sony PlayStation

Wii Remote
"Wiimote", is the primary controller for Nintendos Wii console. Motion sensing capability, which allows the user to interact with and manipulate items on screen via gesture recognition and pointing through the use of accelerometer and optical sensor technology.

How Wii mote works?

Using Motion Sensing Technology Mainly using Accelerometer is measuring the strength and forces applied on Wii Remote Uses Data converter, converts that analog forces into digital data And for measuring direction moves, there is a Sensor Bar How..? I have a video for that.

PlayStation Move
Is a motion-sensing game controller platform for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game console by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). PlayStation Move uses the PlayStation Eye camera to track the wands position and inertial sensors in the wand to detect its motion.

PlayStation Eye
Is a digital camera device, similar to a webcam, for the PlayStation 3. The technology uses computer vision and gesture recognition to process images taken by the camera. This allows players to interact with games using motion and colour detection as well as sound through its built-in microphone array.

PlayStation Eye
Is capable of capturing standard video with frame rates of 60 hertz at a 640480 pixel resolution, and 120 hertz at 320240 pixels, which is "four times the resolution" and "two times the frame-rate than EyeToy. Has "two times the sensitivity" of the EyeToy

What is with Move?

Inertial sensors built into it, including an accelerometer and a gyroscope that sense motion on three axes. They have added the illuminated ball on the end of the controller and the camera peripheral to help the system track controller movement better. The ball colour could be changed to identify player 1 from player 2, 3, or 4.

How they work?

Sensors inside the controller, a three-axis linear accelerometer and a three-axis angular rate sensor (Gyroscope), are used to track rotation as well as overall motion. Magnetometer is also used for calibrating the controller's orientation against the Earth's magnetic field to help correct against cumulative error (drift) by the inertial sensors. Inertial sensors can be used for dead reckoning in cases which the camera tracking is insufficient.

Microsoft Kinect
Kinect (originally known by the code name Project Natal), is a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform, and may later be supported by PCs via Windows 8. Provides full-body 3D motion capture, gesture recognition, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities.

How it works?

How it works?
The Kinect sensor's microphone array enables the Xbox 360 to conduct Active noise control, allowing for things such as headset-free party chat over Xbox Live. The depth sensor consists of an infrared laser projector combined with a monochrome CMOS sensor, and allows the Kinect sensor to see in 3D under any ambient light conditions.

How it works?

Time 2 experience it..!!!
