The UP PRE-MEDICAL HONOR SOCIETY (UP PMHS) is an academic and civic-oriented organization of exemplary pre-medical students dedicated to the pursuit of honor and excellence. It seeks to channel their potential in preparation for their chosen profession via activities and socio-civic projects that aim to reach out to local communities such as Gawad Kalinga visits, outreach programs and free clinics. Among these projects are fundraising activites held for the benefit of the organizations chosen beneficiaries. Last November 14, 2010, the UP PMHS successfully organized a charity fun run entitled Sugar Rush, in cooperation with Diabetes Philippines, Inc., which garnered more than a thousand participants. On March 11, 2012, the UP PMHS will be holding another charity fun run entitled ER: Emergency Run to be held at Frontera Verde (Tiendesitas). The proceeds of this event will be for the benefit of the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, Inc. (PGHMFI) to provide the much needed funding in improving the hospitals equipment and facilities. The vision of the PGHMFI, which is to provide support for the less privileged Filipino through the services and projects of the Philippine General Hospital, proves the broad scope of their philanthropic efforts. We believe that those who are supported by the foundation, including their family members, should also be participants of our event. In this regard, we are humbly inviting you to take part in our benefit event by sponsoring a runner. With a donation of Php500, you are able to shoulder the cost of a complete race registration for a relative of a PGH patient. The complete procedure for the donation can be found in the third page. U.P. PRE-MEDICAL HONOR SOCIETY (UP PMHS)

Established in 1955, The U.P. Pre-Medical Honor Society is an academic and civic-oriented organization dedicated to the pursuit of honor and excellence. The organization encourages a well-rounded personal growth, fosters camaraderie, and upholds academic excellence among pre-medical students. UP PMHS is geared towards instilling social awareness and community service among its members. To concretize this altruism, civic-oriented activities such as free clinics, Gawad Kalinga visits, outreach programs, and fund raising events for different benificiaries are organized by UP PMHS. Through the Tulong Sa Kapwa Kapatid Program, the organization is also able to provide full scholarships to deserving college students.

PHILIPPINE GENERAL HOSPITAL (PGH) MEDICAL FOUNDATION, INC.

Organized in 1997, The PGH Medical Foundation, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization aimed to assist Philippine General Hospitals mission in providing excellent health care for its patients. The PGH serves 500,000 patients, wherein 98% are indigent, annually. Some of its objective are to conduct projects such as procurement of medicines and supplies, renovation of infrastructure, assistance in researches, and various volunteer programs. It gets its funds mainly from various civic-minded individuals, organizations, corporations, foundations, and other funding agencies.

ER: Emergency Run

The charity fun run with the title ER: Emergency Run coming this March 11, 2012 is a partnership between the UP PreMedical Honor Society and the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, Inc. UP PMHS aims to raise funds to aid in covering the operational expenses of Philippine General Hospital. The event will have 3 different categories, the 3k, 5k, and 10k run.

Sponsorships shall be collected until 12:00pm on March 5, 2012. The number of sponsorships collected shall correspond to the number of runners whose race kit fees shall be sponsored. Each sponsor shall be assigned to one runner who is a patient or a relative of a patient of the Philippine General Hospital. Proof of this (medical certificates, valid IDs) shall be submitted to the UP Pre-Medical Honor Society booth at the PGH on March 5, 2012. The sponsor-a-runner program shall be promoted to the patients and family members of the patients of the Philippine General Hospital through fliers which will be posted around the hospital. Qualified participants must completely fill up a race registration form. Race kits shall be available to them during race day. Proper documentation will be done and submitted to the sponsor after the race.
