Kindercarrots
We have some of the best Kindergarteners around! They have worked so hard to pass off their Sight words and their Home Reading Books. They are making great progress on their math facts as well. We are going to spend some time learning money concepts this month with a few interactive math projects. Well also begin learning about Geometric Solids. Here is a closer look at some of our lessons for this month:

Soda Bread, Magical Rainbow Mobiles, Sneaky Leprechaun Traps, and of course, a bit of Irish Luck. But the children at Kids Village are what make our school Magical throughout the year.

Week #1 February 27th - March 2nd


Introduce vc/ccv and vcc/cv rules, introduce suffix es and diphthongs ou and ow, write numbers 87-90, draw congruent line segments to the nearest inch, count with nickels and dimes, and order events by time.

We wanted to send a very special thank you to all of the families that have registered for next year. Your support means so much to us, THANK YOU! If you have not yet registered for next year, there is still time. You can find registration forms online or at the front desk. Its hard to believe that summer is just around the corner with cold temperatures keeping us bundled up. But, it will be here before you know it and with it comes Summer in the Village! At Kids Village we believe in developing a childs whole-self and our summer camps are no exception. We provide an environment of learning, socializing, and creativity that cant be beat. We will be offering a discounted rate if you register before May 15th. See the front desk or our website for more information. Our Daddy Daughter Ball was a huge success! We hope all of you Fathers and Fairies made some great memories. We have had many of you ask When is it the boys turn? So. . . . get ready to start your engines, because we are gearing up for a very special night of Mamas, Boys, and Racing Toys. The night will include our own Kids Village Pinewood Derby, complete with dinner from the Checkered Flag Diner, a Winners Circle awards ceremony, a photo op with the Pit Crew and much more. Mark your calendars for March 31st and speed on over now to pick up your tickets. And last, but of course not least, our students are getting ready for their Class Programs during the week of March 13th - 16th. The children have been working hard on the songs they have learned and a few of the classes have been memorizing parts of a play to share with you. Its sure to be one for the Family Video Archive. Week #2 March 5th - 9th


Introduce digraph au aw and oa, use Wild Colt words, introduce the sight word because , write the numbers 91-95, subtract a number from 10, add 9 to a number, identify dozen and half dozen, and measure objects using feet.

Week #3 March 12th - 16th


Introduce digraph ey and ph, use soft G, introduce the vc/v rule, write the numbers 96-99, practice addition facts, identify fractions, use comparison symbols (>,<, and =), estimate and measure the capacity of a container, and divide a set of objects by sharing.

Week #4 March 19th - 23rd


Spelling with the doubling and dropping rules, introduce ghost letter digraphs, use the v/cv rule with e, o, and u, writing the numbers 100-104, identify geometric solids, identify one dollar, and add three single-digit numbers.

Week #5 March 27th - 30th


Introduce the trigraph tch and dge, introduce digraph ie, spell with final ch tch dge and ge, count with dimes, nickels, and pennies, identify fractional parts of a whole, write the numbers 105-108, measure and draw line segments to the nearest centimeter, and identify cubes and cylinders.

Honesty and Loyalty go hand-in-hand because loyalty is a trait built upon trust. They are two of the most important values we can teach our children. Learning to be honest will develop a childs moral and emotional strength as well as build solid self-esteem and character. We will spend plenty of time role-playing to practice the value of Honesty as well as sharing stories that emphasize the importance of honest behavior.

Kitchen
What if your child was in charge of making dinner tonight? We are learning how to organize a menu, create a grocery list, and follow a recipe. So making dinner might not be a bad idea! Here are a few of the things well be cooking up this month: Week #1 - Breakfast Burritos, Week #2 - Homemade Mac n Cheese, Week #3 - Angel Food Cake with Strawberries, Week #4 - Homemade Butter, and Week #5 - Chicken Noodle Soup.

Music
We are almost ready for the big day! Class programs are coming up quick but we are working hard to memorize our parts and stay on queue. We are also going to learn all about Mozart and learn the rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence.

Social Studies
How does the climate effect our environment, vegetation, and wildlife? This month we will learn all about the equatorial climate and identify the countries that the equator passes through.

Science
We will be taking a closer look at the entire muscular and nervous systems this month. So, if you find your child making faces in the mirror, dont worry, they are learning all about how the muscles in our face work (might be fun to get the camera though).

Art
Georgia OKeefe, Claude Monet, and Vincent Van Gogh are a few of the artists we will be studying this month as we look at art that depicts nature. Well make our own OKeefe inspired flowers, use watercolor paints to create our own water lily pond, and use textured tempera paints to create a Starry Night sky.
