ASSIGNMENT 1

DUE DATE: Friday13th April 2012, 6pm at the Lecture Room The problem Located near a major University is the thriving hair dressing salon Sallys Salon. Due to its excellent location and enthusiastic staff the salon has a large clientele drawn from the many students who come to the area each day, the staff of the University, and nearby business and shops. The salon offers a range of services to three main types of clients: the students, who tend to be very fussy and like to keep up with the latest fashion trends, the university staff who favour the short back and sides look, and the clients from the business sector who are more interested in fast service than how they look. Some clients request a particular hair dresser when they make their appointment, which means the staff member requested has to be available on that day and time. With the help of an IT professional, Ms Anna List, Anna will make appointments with the client over the next few weeks to gain a better understanding of the requirements. Your group will be invited to sit in on these interviews and you will be able to take notes during these sessions to ensure you have the correct requirements. You will be notified of the meetings as they become available. Your Task for Assignment 1 You will need to be in a group of 4 or 5 people. Please be aware that the same group is required for both Assignment 1 and Assignment 2. 1. Describe clearly the purpose of this system and the scope of it. 2. Identify and describe all the Stakeholders - their focus, their needs, their job, and difficulties in their job you need to justify why they are stakeholders. 3. Describe the performance requirements, the safety requirements, the security requirements, and quality requirements. 4. Draw the user interfaces via Dialog Designs

5. Put together a questionnaire that you can use to interview each of the stakeholders. This needs to be a substantial questionnaire that can relate to the E-R diagram. Please make sure you justify why the questions are being asked. 6. Draw an Entity-Relationship diagram, which covers the booking process and customer payments (i.e. items 1 10 in the scenarios listed above). The model must include cardinality and attributes for all entities and relationships. Total marks: 20 Note: Only use the information contained in this document. Dont introduce any additional external entities other than those named here. Dont introduce any more scenarios you may think up, even if they seem valid to you. General Conditions 1.
