TUITION & FEES

ONWARD! programs are supported by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, and other smaller grants, making MondayFriday programs FREE for your students! This means that a snack at 3:00 p.m., registration, instruction and materials cost you absolutely nothing! The only exceptions are the Girls on Track and Williamstown Ambulance programs.

HEALTHY SNACKS BEFORE CLASS


At 3:00 pm, healthy snacks and milk are served in the FACS room for students attending ONWARD! courses. All students in grades 6-12 must wait in the FACS room until their courses begin, usually at 3:15 pm.

JOBS FOR STUDENTS


ONWARD! is looking for high school tutors and assistants to work after school. Come to the ONWARD! Office [located in the Guidance area] for a job application. Reimbursement is hourly pay or community service hours.

CREATE AN ONWARD! ACTIVITY


Students can organize their own ONWARD! workshop or course! To make this happen, they need to identify a qualified instructor and find at least 5 students to join them. Then they can present their ideas to the ONWARD! Site Coordinator to advertise it school-wide. For more information, call Jennefer Jolls at 433-5350, ext. 3129.

When school ends early on half-days, and when there is no school due to holidays and vacation, ONWARD! courses are cancelled.

When school is closed due to weather, ONWARD! classes are cancelled.

HOMEWORK ZONE
Days: Monday thru Friday Time: 3:15-5:00 pm Dates: March 7-June 12 Instructor: Liesl Wulff (Grades: 6-12)

STAND TALL TALKERS (Grades: 6-8)


Days: Tuesdays Time: 3:15-4:30 pm Dates: March 13-April 17 Instructor: Dona Bate Be calmer and clearer when speaking. Learn fun, teambuilding exercises that help reduce anxieties and increase confidence. Find out why body language and voice are as important as words. Enrollment limited to 10 students.

WORDS WITH REAL FRIENDS (Grades: 6-8)


Day: Wednesdays Time: 3:15-4:30 Dates: March 7-April 18 Grades: 6-8 Instructor: Jane Wilkison So you think youre the champion of your Words With Friends app? Well come share your skills in some friendly one-on-one and team Scrabble competition. If you dont know how to play, well teach you! Enrollment limited to 10 students.

Stay after school and get your homework and projects done so you can stay on top of all you have to do. Drop in once or twice a week, or come every day! Ms. Wulff will always be there to help support you.

FACS ROOM TRANSFORMATIONS


Day: Mondays Time: 3:15-5:00pm Dates: March 12-April 16 Instructor: Sandra Ayer

(Grades: 6-8) The FACS room needs some sprucing up! This committee of students will spearhead a redecoration project that focuses on soundproofing and adding colorful, artistic elements to this shared space. Enrollment limited to 6 students.

DYNAMIC DRAWING (Grades: 6-9)


Day: Tuesdays Time: 3:30-4:30 pm Dates: March 13-April 17 Instructor: Justin Peloquin By focusing on drawing fundamentals, students will participate in a variety of drawing forms, allowing for creative exploration in the the world of art. This class will incorporate cartoon and graphic novel layout, character design, and landscape design.

INCREDIBLE MACHINES (Grades: 6-12)


Day: Wednesdays Time: 3:15-4:30pm Dates: March 7-April 18 Instructor: Jesse Wolfe Do you love inventing things? Have a knack for building contraptions? This club will design and create a Rube Goldberg machine - a complex apparatus that performs a simple task. The creative possibilities are endless!

MEATHEADS

(Grades: 8-12) Days: Mondays & Wednesdays Time: 3:15-4:30 pm Dates: March 12-April 18 Instructor: Hayden Coon

Students will lift weights, work on vertical jump and increase cardiovascular health. Enrollment limited to 8 students.

BILLTOWN BAKERY (Grades: 6-12)


Day: Tuesdays Time: 3:15-5:00pm Dates: March 13-April 17 Instructor: Julie Salter

Come have fun with us as we experience the joy of cooking! Students will explore different aspects of baking including kitchen safety, proper measuring, and different tasting ingredients, plus they get to make and take home a new recipe every week! Enrollment limited to 8 students.

FITNESS CLUB

(Grades: 6-8) Day: BOYS on Mondays & Wednesdays GIRLS on Tuesdays & Thursdays Time: 3:15-4:30pm Dates: March 12-April 19 Instructor: Jenny Earls

Students prepare and improve fitness scores for annual Statewide Fitness Competition. Students will set goals and reflect on individual fitness related health plan. Enrollment limited to 24 students.

SCRAPBOOKING (Grades: 6-8)


Day: Wednesdays Time: 3:15-4:30 Dates: March 7-April 18 Instructor: Kim Shangraw Bring your photos and make fun scrapbook pages! Basic scrapbook materials are made available for your use, or bring your own to share.

BLUES NEWS (Grades: 6-12)


Days: Thursdays Time: 3:15-5:00 pm Dates: March 8-April 19 Instructor: Kim Deslaurier

This newspaper club works toward the monthly publication of BLUES NEWS. Students use their writing and computer skills to create the text and layout, learn how to be reporters/journalists, and are responsible for meeting a deadline!

Middle School girls may enroll in both of these activities simultaneously! See Jenny Earls for details.

Off Campus:

DEBATE CLUB (Grades: 9-12)


Day: Thursdays Time: 3:15-5:00pm Dates: March 8-April 19 Instructor: Thomas Frohlich Stop complaining, start arguing and join the debate club. Youll impress employers, learn to articulate your thoughts, become a literate citizen and improve your writing, all while having fun!

GIRLS ON TRACK (Grades: 6-8)


Days: Mondays & Thursdays Time: 3:30-4:30 pm Dates: March 12-June 9 Instructor: Lisa Page Participation Fee: $70, but scholarships are available! Middle school girls will embrace their individual strengths as they learn about healthy choices and train for a 5k run/walk on June 9th. Please wear running shoes and clothing for these meetings. Enrollment limited to 15 students.

WILLIAMSTOWN AMBULANCE

Are you considering a future in the medical field or interested in serving your community? Then consider becoming a junior member of the Williamstown Ambulance Department. Junior members must be 16-18 years old and complete the upcoming training program. The 10-week course will begin on February 27 and end on May 7. Classes will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 9:30pm at the ambulance building. The cost of the course is $125 but will be waived with a one-year commitment to the ambulance service. After completing the program and passing an exam, you will be an Emergency Medical Responder!
