5. Mono Project Releases 2.0
People often think of open source as being purely a Linux and BSD thing. Perhaps they're aware of
open source on OS X as well, but in general Windows is seen as hostile to open source. And at the
heart of the hostility surely must be Microsoft's proprietary .NET framework, right? But no: the Mono
Project provides a crossplatform, open source implementation of .NET. Version 2.0 was released this
week, and it has matured into a serious development framework.

7. Happy 25th Birthday to GNU
Before 25 years, Richard M Stallman (RMS) started the GNU Movement.
The GNU gives the 4 freedoms to the software users.
• The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
• The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to
your needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.
• The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).
• The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements
to the public, so that the whole community benefits (freedom 3).
Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

7. Free/Opensource Firstperson Shooter Games
A firstperson shooter (Commonly called FPS) is an action video game that involves "an avatar, one or
more ranged weapons, and a varying number of
enemies". FPSs render the game world from the visual
perspective of the player character. FPS was one of the
first genres to use key technologies such as 3D
graphics, online play, and modding. Enhanced realism
combined with graphic violence has also made FPS a
common topic in ongoing controversies over video
games.
Linux has FPS games like AssaultCube, Cube, Aleph
One, Nexuiz, OpenArena, Tremulous, War§ow, Sauerbraten.
Here is a review of them.
