1. Sun launches OpenSolaris

Sun launched OpenSolaris 2008.05. It is a Live/Install CD. It is easy Installer and GNOME Desktop. 
Sun learned from Linux that Opening the Code is the only way to survive and to make the Solaris 
Operating System alive, it released the Open Solaris.

2. Google launches security group for open source

Google is creating a volunteer team for advising Open Source developers on Security issues on their 
applications. OCERT, the Open source Computer Emergency Response Team, will constantly 
checking all the major applicaions and test the code for security vulnerabilities and exploits. Then 
they suggest and advise the developers to patch and solve the security issues.

3. Migrating to ext4 FileSystem

The entire world is waiting for the ext4 file system for its special features. After ext3, the filesystem 
team fixed a lot of bugs and implemented more special features in ext4. Now, this is in experimental 
version. You can download and install the ext4 file system.

ext4 supports larger files as Pepibyte(PiB) and Exibyte(EiB), promised undelete options, Faster 
filesystem Checking, supports timestamps in nanoseconds and more.

4. A review of Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

Ubuntu 8.04 has been released with Long­Term support and it has its own pros and cons. It comes 
with latest software and outstanding performance. Here is a review on Ubuntu 8.04

5. OpenArena 0.7.6 is released.

OpenArena is a violent, sexy, multiplayer first person shooter game. It is alternate to the Properitory 
games like Unreal Tournament, Quake etc. This release has extra models, more characters, excellent 
Video and Audio features. This is available for Linux, Mac and Windows too.
