Girls Soccer Tryouts


The 5th and 6th grade girls soccer season is about to begin! Coach Owens will be having try-outs on Monday, Match 12th and Tuuesday, March 13th from 3:45-5:30 p.m. TRYOUTS WILL BE OUTSIDE, so please bring gym shorts/sweat pants. A tshirt/sweatshirt, and athletic shoes with you for try-outs. If you have any questions please contact Coach Owens or Coach Morgan.

Vocabulary and Spelling
Students have been analyzing Greek and Latin Root words according to Harry Potter. Ask about the Patronum!

Reading and Writing All readers and writers have been working hard to understand different forms of poetry. This week student worked on analyzing and understanding Haikus. They worked on meaning, theme, and tone in three professionally published pieces then went on to compose their own.

Student Scientists have taken on the


challenge of energy flow in an ecosystem, mapped out the energy flow in the different biomes, and will now move on to the process of photosynthesis. They will start this investigation with a lab study on different types of plants and look for chlorophyll, spores, and the making of food. about the rule of Julius Cesar and his power over the Romans. They also found out how Cesar was murdered and how his murder led to the 'Pax Romana' or Peace in Rome for a little over 200 years.

This

week students will be discovering how Rome began to fall and we will wrap up our quick trip to ancient Rome. Towards the end of next week students will be traveling through the future to the middle ages. Get ready to hear about castles, royal life and the plague coming to a home near you!

Welcome to Geometry! That is the theme for our math classes. we will be enjoying geometry for the next 6 - 8 weeks. Rotation 1 will be working on ratios, rates and proportions since the entire basis of geometry is proportional reasoning. Rotation 2 will be worling with similar figures and scale models. Rotation 3 will be working with angles, lines and their relationships. Please know that there is an increase in homework for this unit and the students will have to show their work or it will not count.
