Are you concerned about the water quality of the streams in your community and want to do something about it? If so, then you might be interested in joining one of the Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trusts Watershed Action Teams (WAT). The Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust (SWWT) is a collaborative effort to achieve healthy and sustainable water resources throughout the Greater Milwaukee Watersheds. The SWWT is a non-governmental, non-taxing, voluntary partnership that will achieve its primary purposes by prioritizing, supporting and facilitating the implementation of cost effective projects that result in measurable improvements in our water resources. Membership is open to all. Watershed Action Teams for the Kinnickinnic and Menomonee River Watersheds are forming now! Watershed Action Teams for the Oak Creek, Root River, Milwaukee River, and Lake Michi- gan Direct Drainage watersheds will be formed in future years. We envision Watershed Action Teams to be collaborative groups of energetic people who will pro- vide input to the Watershed Restoration Plans. The WATs will work along with a consultant to de- velop science based, cost effective solutions for problems within the Kinnickinnic and Menomonee River Watersheds. After the two Watershed Restoration Plans are completed, the Watershed Action Teams will play a role in implementing the solutions they helped identify. Please see second page of this email for more information on Watershed Action Teams. The kick-off meeting for Kinnickinnic and Menomonee River Watershed Restoration Plans will be November 10, 2008. It will be held from 1-5 pm at Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Plan- ning Commission, W239 N1812 Rockwood Drive, Waukesha, WI 53187-1607. If you are interested in the Southeastern Wisconsin Watersheds Trust or participating on a Water- shed Action Team for the Menomonee River Watershed or the Kinnickinnic River Watershed please reply to this email.
