Internship FAQ1
Internship FAQ1
Internship FAQ1
Where can I find more information on UNA-USA and its internship program?
8-10 weeks. We do try to complete the process ahead of schedule, but due to the large
number of applications we receive (especially during the summer), we use this time for
our various departments to carefully review each application.
Applicants who have gone through the application process but have not been selected
will receive a letter of regret. If a UNA-USA staff member is interested in your
application, you will be contacted via phone or email in order to discuss your
application.
In general, interns are expected to come in 3-4 days a week and work anywhere between
25-30 hours per week. The duration of an internship is typically 3 months.
What if I have a special circumstance that does not fit with the general requirements of a
UNA-USA internship?
If a UNA-USA staff member accepts your application, you will work directly with him/her
on the specific details of the internship. Details can include the final work schedule,
internship duration and actual project content.
If I am not accepted for an internship with UNA-USA, may I reapply for future
semesters?
Certainly. We encourage you to reapply as many times as you like. We are grateful for
your interest in our organization.
If I am not accepted and intend to reapply in the future, will UNA-USA hold on to my
completed application?
No. Unfortunately, we receive too many applications to extend this courtesy. All
applicants who intend to reapply must do so with a newly completed application packet.
Applications are NOT considered unless all of the above components are included.
A writing sample should be a document that you have produced either currently or in the
past that best reflects your ability to perform research and put your thoughts to paper.
There is no set length for a writing sample but brevity is preferred.
Letters of recommendation are letters which demonstrate your aptitude for this
internship, written by a current or former professor, employer or supervisor. UNA-USA
requires 2 letters of recommendation. Sources for the letters of recommendation can be
either academic or professional. They cannot be personal. Recommendations must be in
written form and cannot be provided in the form of an email attachment or phone
reference.
Yes. But please note that we must receive your completed packet before it is sent through
the review process. Should one or all of your recommendations fail to reach our offices,
your application will not be considered.
