Jesus said, What a huge harvest! And how few the harvest hands. So on your knees: ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands(Luke 10:2, The Message). Pray to the Lord of the Harvest. The Lord is at work through willing hands in Dallas and Rockwall counties. New churches are thriving and reaching all kinds of people in various parts of our city. Many are participating in coaching, spiritual formation retreats, and other leadership development opportunities provided by our association. Still, the harvest is huge and the harvest hands are

few. Join us as we pray to the Lord of the harvest to send more harvest hands. Give to the Gladys Moore Missions Offering. The Gladys Moore Missions Offering is a designated fund that provides qualifying churches and related ministries with small grants, enabling them to follow God where He is working in unexpected ways. Dollars donated to the missions offering do not support the budget of the association. For more information about the Gladys Moore Missions offering and the associations Week of Prayer, visit www.dba.net/give.

A MODERN DAY PARABLE

Whenever I travel, my souvenir of choice is a miniature of a historic church. Although I have been in most of these churches, I have one that I have not visited: it is the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The church of the Nativity was first built on the site thought to be the birthplace of Jesus in 333 AD. It burned down in 529 and was rebuilt in its present form in 565. It is jointly owned by 3 denominations: Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox, and Armenian Orthodox. The deterioration of the roof is harming the structural integrity of the building, and rainwater is damaging the 12th-century wall mosaics. The 3 denominations have the money needed to renovate the church. But they cannot agree on how to work together. The Palestinian Authority, a predominantly Muslim organization, has decided to take action. Palestinian Tourism Minister Khouloud Daibes says, Our president (Mahmoud Abbas) has issued a decree to restore the roof and to prepare for the restoration of the church on behalf of the 3 churches and in coordination with the three churches, which obviously cannot do it on their own. Paul wrote that the Philippians should conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. . .I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 2:27).

ROGER JACKSON CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF SERVICE AT MT. LEBANON CAMP

On May 4, 2012, Roger Jackson celebrates 30 years of full-time employment at Mt. Lebanon Camp. He has served as camp director since September 2004. He served as assistant camp manager from 1982 until 2004. Bob Dean, DBA executive director, says, We are blessed to have Roger leading our camp. He is dependable, a hard worker, and exhibits the servant leadership of Christ. He has a vision for the future for Mt. Lebanon and I am thankful for his leadership. Many changes have occurred at the camp during Rogers 8 years as camp director. The motel and most of the lodges have been remodeled. A zip line, climbing walls, and ropes courses have been added. A new 12-room conference center and a pastoral retreat home are planned. Though Rogers full-time employment at Mt. Lebanon began in 1982, he began serving on the associations summer camp recreation team in 1969. Then, in 1971, he joined the camp summer staff, called Gunnins Gorillas. Royce Gunnin was Mt. Lebanons first full-time manager. Roger moved from a summer staff position to an associate position with camp manager Red Colquitt in 1973, and then left the camp from 1975 to 1981 to work in the hardware and building materials industry. He returned to the camp in 1982 to serve as assistant director. Last year, Mt. Lebanon hosted more than 28,000 campers. Summer camps are popular, and retreats and other events keep the camp full year-round. Mail your notes of congratulations to Roger at Mt. Lebanon or via email at rjackson@ mtlebanoncamp.com.

Spanish-speaking church plant Iglesia Bautista Agua Viva (Living Water Baptist Church) began with just 25 people in September 2011. Since then, they have almost doubled to an average of 46 in worship. Pastor Fredy Urizar, originally from Guatemala, believes the church might double in size again this year. Urizar and his wife Patricia have children who make up the musical group that leads in

worship. Churches monthly contributions to DBA have made it possible for the association to help Agua Viva purchase instruments for that worship team. Agua Viva emphasizes reaching out, both

to its Mesquite neighborhood and beyond. Already they have started four Bible studies in homes to reach new persons for Christ. And the churchs youth have joined a group from The Crossing Baptist Church, Agua Vivas sponsor church, on a mission trip to the Rio Grande Valley. Pray for this new church as they grow and take the Gospel to their community!

FROM WASHATERIA TO CHURCH?

(The following is an excerpt from Scott Colemans blog, found at www.dbablogs.com) Recently, I heard a great story from a simpler church planter friend here in Dallas. Each week he works with 17 groups in a variety of locations and in different stages of development. These meet in places as diverse as mobile homes, apartments, houses, washaterias and even on street corners and empty lots. Some offer primarily evangelistic opportunities, but some are certainly growing seeds of churches. And some of these groups are fullyfunctioning small churches. The Holy Spirit leads my friend and these groups in some simple and natural ways. He says, I was ministering at a washateria when I met Ms. Bertha. She had a little girl who was playing and cut her hand. Ms. Bertha was very

scared since they could not stop the little girls hand from bleeding. I came to her and helped her, got some bandages and prayed for her and the family to be saved. Now she has a Bible study in her house. I love this example of Jesus showing His practical and eternal care for people hidden in out-of-the-way places of our daily life. And Hes doing it through the simple, natural actions of His followers like you and me!
