Unit five Curriculum Outline Sharing the Planet

Dear Parents, This week we have began our new unit under the transdisciplinary theme of Sharing the Planet. The central idea for the unit is: Children worldwide share rights and responsibilities. Within this unit students will be exploring the central idea through the concepts of Form - What are my rights? What are the rights of others around me? Responsibility - Understand responsibilities as a member of a community and make choices that takes others welfare into account. Students will be exploring the ideas of fair and unfair as an introduction to the concepts of rights and responsibilities. In IT Mr. Brady will be exploring the area of digital citizenship with the year 3 students. In particular students will be reviewing their responsibilities when using internet based resources. Ms. Julia will be reviewing the experiences of other students around the world when receiving education and every childs right to education. She will review the rights and responsibilities of every NIST student to safe and fair play in the playground and in the classroom.
