Volunteering with Artists Creating Together


ACT is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. To make our programs possible, we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of artists with special needs. Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for Spring 2012. Thank you for giving ACT a hand!

Volunteer Opportunities Spring 2012


One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Early Childhood Nights Volunteer during these family fun and art nights through crafting clay pieces, dancing with preschoolers, painting faces and more! Wednesday, April 11, 6:00-7:30pm at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park Thursday, April 26, 6:00-7:30pm, Campus Early Childhood Center Monday, May 21, 5:00-7:30pm, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park Community Park Day On Saturday, April 21 from 10am-1:00pm, ACT will be celebrating Earth Day by creating a community art project at Roosevelt Park (810 Van Raalte Dr, SW GR) with ACT students and other community groups. The event will culminate with a celebratory pizza lunch! ASK Walk On Sunday, April 29 from 12:00noon-3:00pm, ACT will be providing arts and crafts activities for the ASK walk at Kuyper college. Can you help? Festival Day 2012! Come for a day of fun and art at Lincoln Campus on Friday, May 4, 2012 with over 1,200 kids, teachers, artists, volunteers and community partners! Volunteers are needed from 9:002:00pm on Festival Day (May 4) and on May 3 from 2:30-7:00pm for set-up.

On-Going Opportunities
Adult Art Classes: ACT strives to provide a wide range of art opportunities for adults with special needs. Check out these classes and come and volunteer! Get your Paint On! Students will explore different types of paints and a variety of techniques and will leave with a masterpiece of their own! 6 week class, Mondays, 6:30-7:30pm from 4/9-5/14 at the ACT offices Glee! Show Choir: Based on the popular hit TV show, Glee!, students will have fun singing, dancing, and drumming together. 6 week class, Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm from 4/10-5/15 at the ACT offices Very Special Choir: Meets each Thursday from 12:30-1:30pm at Kuyper College (3333 East Beltline, GR) through May 2012. Arts and Mentoring: ACT holds specialized art classes for transition-aged students (18-26 year olds) from Art Therapy to Art Around the World and from Printmaking to Pottery. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am at the ACT offices.
