INVIZ VUMAN RA-Y Video Borescope

Capturing still photos and video from Borescope inspections allow permanent archival of the inspection results during the non-destructive inspection. Most Borescope Inspections are carried out by someone knowledgable about the materials and process aspects of the borescope application. Knowledge of the borescope application is required to get the most appropriate results from the borescope inspection. Training on usage of borescopes is minimal since they are simple optical devices such as a digital camera, telescope or microscope. However the advantage of the optics used in a borescope is that they yield a long depth of field. Microscopes use high magnification and can only be used in a limited range whereas the magnification of a borescope allows a wide depth of field or range where they are in focus. Borescope usage in industry increases as more and more companies realize the cost savings associated with non-destructive testing. Borescope Video Capturing of critical components in a factory environment cannot be underestimated as a valuable service by the quality control department. To document inspection results often still images are captured by a video borescope or flexible borescope with video camera mounting on the eyepiece. This allows very quick results and communication of the testing process to various departments within a company and such borescope images can be very simply emailed or printed. Video Captures from a borescope inspection also allows viewing by more than one person at a time. A team of people can instantly see the test results on a LCD or Color monitor display to assist in a diagnosis of the problem. In the case of turbine inspections, test results can be compared from one TBO to the next. Organizing the data in an archive assures that historical borescope inspection records can be instantly retrieved and reevaluated for differences in wear, erosion, corrosion or other conditions that can get progressively worse as time passes. Being able to organize borescope inspection records for each engine allows critical decision making easier since the history is fully captured in still images or video. Once an archival of Borescope inspections are gathered together and the history available at anytime, only then can a company benefit from having this documentation. During the service life of a high stressed component such as the high speed rotating parts on a jet engine it is crucial to have records to document all measures of safety and maintenance procedures relating to any product liability actions that may occur. Having and maintaining borescope records will insure that history of a component or engine meets the service life requirements to comply with maintenance procedures the engine manufacturer prescribes in their maintenance manuals.
