(A) DVR startup, self-check and crash

01Why the DVR doesnt start up though power cord is well connected to power source? 01Check whether you have turned on the switcher on the back panel; Check whether you have started the machine correctly. 02I see the Super DVR logo, but why it stops at self-check process? 02Please check if you have well set the Master / Slave hard disk. Pay attention to the hard disk data line, the color side should connect to the main board, and the Master hard disk should connect to the other end of the data line, while Slave hard disk in the middle. Any other connection ways may cause problems. To detect if the problem is caused by hard disks, please remove all the hard disks and start system again. The DVR can start up without disk. 03My system can finally start up but seems to be quite slow. Why? 03As DVR will check hard disk data on starting up, when the hard disk data size is very large, system needs more time to finish checking; Hard disk error will take system much time on rechecking.

117

04Why my system restarts after self-check? 04 Check the hard disks if they are in FAT32 file format, if not, change to FAT32; Check Color System setting in Record Parameter menu. In case this setting is PAL, while present video input is in NTSC format, which will cause system restart. 05Why DVR restarts after working very well for a long time? 05 Check if you have left a disk in the disk box for a long time. The disk in disk box is only for backup purpose, once finished backup, disconnect it. please check video signal. For version above V3.5.7, once DVR has checked abnormal video signal, DVR will restart. 06Why system reminds me illegal version? 06This problem is caused by upgrade or changing of VGA board. Before upgrade, please contact us to make sure the upgrade file is valid. 07Why my remote controller is out of use? 07Please check if the IR indicator light on the front panel flashes when you use the remote controller. If not, its probably the controller has run out of battery. Check if the front panel is in locking state. If so, press Login/Lock button and input power password to unlock. For system version above V3.5.8, DVR has system lock function. Some function cannt in use until you login the system.

118

08Why system crashes abnormally in playback or data search process? 08Please check if the hard disk has well connected, and remove any hard disk with problems. 09Why system crashes at some certain time? 09In case system crashes at some certain time, for example, around 7:30am, please check your electricity system. This problem is mostly happened in factories, when at around 7:30, all machines start and cause power supply in a short temporarily. Try to make the DVR not connect to the same circuit as the industrial machines. 10How can I make upgrade to the DVR system? 10Please refer to chapter 4.13 for detailed information. NoteFor versions above V3.5.8, please set DVR IP as fixed IP address (NOT auto config) 11After upgrade processes, my DVR system cannot start up, or I cannot see image on monitor screen. Why? 11During upgrade process, please make sure network or power supply wont cut off, as it will cause serious problem to the system and cannot start up. If so, do upgrade processes again. In case it still fails, please contact us for more technical support.

119

(B) Display problems

01Why my DVR displays black & white images on monitor? 01Please check if the video input, DVR video format setting and monitor video format setting must be the same. If not, set them all in one video format. 02Why nothing displays on CCTV monitor or VGA monitor? 02 On system starting up, after inputting power password, its normal for showing blank screen for about 30 seconds. In case the monitor still shows blank screen for over 60 seconds, please check if you have turned on the monitor and if the cables are well connected. At this time, you can also watch the PWR light is on; if the front panel display well, it means system communication ok. Try to connect a camera video input directly to the monitor, to check if the monitor works well. 03Why my DVR display images that seems to be interfered, and like water wave shape? 03 Please check if the video cable has well contacted. Check if there are strong electricity current around the video cable. Please dont put video cable together with electricity cables to avoid interfering. Please check if the DVR case is well grounded. Only connect the case to

120

ground by the screw on the back panel, while dont connect other points to the ground. Please check camera, monitor and video cables if they are aging. 04Why both the live display image and playback image are showing the true color? 04For version higher than V3.5.8, we added video parameter setup function. Please check if you have set the parameters well. (Please refer to chapter 4.2 for details) 05Why my DVR displays distorted images on VGA monitor or cannot make full screen display? 05 Please check if your VGA monitor is well set up. Change your VGA monitor settings till make it full screen. 06Why the display shows disordered color? 06 Please check you VGA data line, as well as connection condition between DVR to VGA monitor; Check if the DVR system has clue of overheat. 07I started my system seemed to be successfully, but there was a certain channel displaying nothing, neither caption. Why? 07Please make restore to factory default settings.

121

08Why it displays mosaics when playback? 08 If you format a hard disk when its recording, then playback image will show mosaics. So avoid formatting a HDD when in record mode. The video recorded when DVR has just started up may contain mosaics. If you change record settings, in the first few seconds after saving the settings, the record images may shows mosaics. Dont set image parameters, i.e. Brightness, chrome too low, it may cause image quality decrease and contain mosaics. Hard disk errors may also cause mosaics. 09: How can I regulate the display to the best? 09: Regulate the brightness and contrast of the PC display properly. You can regulate the video parameter by press the frame key firstly, and then regulate the brightness and contrast of the PC display properly.

(C) Client manager and remote functions

122

02How to realize the remote surveillance? 02 Install the client manager software, and connect the computer to the network, e.g. LAN, ADSL. Set a fixed IP for the DVR: In LAN, manually give the DVR an IP, like 192.168.1.188.In Internet, you should apply for the fixed IP from Internet services suppliers. confirm whether to PING to the server Client PC should also get a IP. If its in the same LAN as DVR, then set manually an IP like 192.168.123 for the PC. Test the connection between client PC and DVR by PING the DVR IP address on the PC. Input DVR IP address and port number in the client manager software, as well as the user name and password that preset on DVR. 03When I connect to remote DVR, but I can get only picture with mosaics, and sometimes pictures still. Why? 03 Please check the network conditions. Its probably blocked or very busy, so some video data may lose in transmission, which will cause mosaics. When DVR server is in starting up process. Too many client PCs are connecting to the DVR, which takes too much of the DVR CPU. Check the DVR server side, if the original images have mosaics. 04: I have well connected the DVR with network cable (network cable indicator light flashes), but I fail to Ping the DVR from remote computers. Why? 04: Please arp-d* command to delete items set by inet_addr.

123

05: How to open the picture of the host computer by client end? 05 A. Confirm that DVR is open. B. Confirm that the IP of the DVR havent been engrossed by others. C. Confirm that the PC end have installed the client program correctly. D. Confirm whether the PC has been connected to the DVR by PING order. You can click the start, inputting the arp-d order in the course cote, deleting the item that appointed by inet_addr if its obstructed. DRecord, video data and backup

01Why my DVR system cant record in audio? 01 Please check if you have enabled Mute function. Please check the Record parameter setup window if you have enabled audio record.

131

Check the audio line if it is in good condition. 02Why my DVR system didnt start recording, though I have set manual record? 02 Please check if you have well set the Master / Slave hard disk. Pay attention to the hard disk data line, the color side should connect to the main board, and the Master hard disk should connect to the other end of the data line, while Slave hard disk in the middle. Any other connection ways may cause problems. Please check if you set Data Partition on the hard disks. If so, though system seems to be recording, while there is no data saved. 03Why I cant make timer record (schedule record)? 03 Please check if you have corrected set the schedules. There are two period of time, please make sure the first time period isbefore the second one, and the time must be in a day, from 00:00 to 23:59. Please check if power supply was cut off in the scheduled time periods? The data you need is covered. There are something wrong with HD, so that the data cant be updated. 04Why system gets very slow when searching for hard disk data? 04This is possible when you are using motion detection or alarm record modes that may make system switching between recording and

132

non-recording states, therefore create too many data segments. So the DVR needs a longer time to search all the segments. In this case, you need only wait for a longer time. 05Why I cannot make motion detection record? 05 Please check the motion detection record schedule setting. There are two periods. The first one shall be ahead of the second one. Please check if you have correctly selected the motion detection areas. Maybe caused by too low a sensitivity. Try to increase the motion detection sensitivity. 06Why cannot I make alarm record? 06Please check the alarm record schedule setting. There are two periods. The first one shall be ahead of the second one. Please refer to the alarm record setup window to check if the alarm linkage channels are well set. please check if the sensors are well mounted. 07Why the recorded videos are not continuous? 07 In case you are applying manual record or timer record mode, please check if power supply was cut off in the period. In case you are applying motion detection or alarm record mode, as system only records after the motion or alarm happens and lasts for a specific time and stops

133

recording. So the recorded files may not continuous. 08Why auto recording mode (recycling record mode) doesnt work? 08Firstly please make sure your hard disks are in good condition. Check if you have set over write mode as Auto in record parameter setup menu. Please check the hard disks for any errors, i.e. Logistic error or physical error. 09How to backup data and burn CDs? 09 Create a backup partition on a hard disk, and then press Backup button to run backup function to copy files to the backup partition. Use the client manager software to backup DVR data to the PC and burn CD by a burner. Note: please copy the client manager software together with the video data, so be convenient to playback. 10Why there is no action when clicking the backup through the client end program? 10Check whether open the fireproofing wall or not. If its so, this open will cause the data in the host computer cant be backup by the program of client end. 11Why there is no data on the backup list when display that backup OK?

134

11The host computer cant backup the record in 15 minutes.(For example: its 12:00 now, so you cant backup the data from11:45 to 12:00). 12Why the time of the playback suddenly jump over? 12This state is usually caused by rectifying the time. So you should confirm whether the data should be stored before rectifying time. 13Why there is seriously mosaic when playback 13Please check whether exist bad fan of the HD or not? If its logistic error, you can format the disk; if its physical error, please change the HD. 14Why the record are so slow when playback? 14Check whether the DVR is on the slowly play state or not. Our DVR support slowly playback on 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 of the normal speed. Please check whether the HD link line is OK or not, and whether there is bad fan in HD. 15Why there is some dithering when play or playback? 15Set the recorder and vidicon to the same mode. (PAL or NTSC). take off the HD and check whether the HD link OK or not?

135

EHard disk partitions, format

01Why I cant partition or format hard disks? 01 You cant do partition and format at the same time. Firstly do partition, and then confirm and save the settings. System will restart to apply for the setting, and then you can make format operation. For certain hard disk partition that cannot be formatted, firstly slightly change the volume, and confirm & save the setting, and then system will automatically restart and make format operation to the partition. In case the above two solutions still cannot solve the problem, its probably caused by the logistic errors on the hard disk. You should connect the hard disk to a PC and delete the partition. Note: for version below V3.5.7, after making partition or format operation, system will restart; for version above V3.5.7, system wont restart. 02Why my DVR system always warns that cannot find hard disk or hard disk error? 02 Please make sure you have set hard disk to master or slave correctly. When the IDE cable only connects with one hard disk, please set it as Master. The system requires data line to be above ATA66 / 80P type. Please check the hard disk and data line to make sure they are in good conditions. Please check whether HD is error or not? If its logistic error, you can format the disk; if its physical error, please change the HD.

Please read the P/T unit manual. 03I opened motion alarm and sensor alarm, but I got misinformation frequently. Why? 03Please check and set motion detection sensitivity properly. (Motion detection is sensing motion by light intensity. In case you set it very

137

high sensitivity, day & night changing may trigger an alarm) 04The system didnt make alarm when certain video losses. Why? 04Please check if you have set video loss alarm in Channel setup. 05Why I cannot clear the alarms? 05You can only clear the alarms with the IR remoter. Press Clear button and input password, and then press Enter to clear alarms. 06Why I cannot control PT devices, e.g. speed dome? 06 Please check whether you have connected 485 controlling line to DVR correctly. Please check DVR settings, i.e. protocol, bard rate are set the same as the PT device. Check whether the address code is the same with the DVR channel setting. 07More than one DVR cant control one PTZ, why? 07 Check whether 485 line has been connected to the DVR correctly. Check whether the PTZ protocol and baud rate are the same with DVR. Check whether the address code is the same with the DVR channel setting. If no, please set it again and then test. Open the Use RS485 device keyboard address under the network.
