Facilities Report Board of Library Trustees Meeting March 28, 2012 Martin Luther King Jr.

, Memorial Library All preventive maintenance was completed for February and March. One window replacement for the G Place side of the building was installed on March 11; the

other window was the wrong size and will be installed later. The engineering staff is working with the elevator contractor to correct inspection issues reported to the DCRA. Facilities has completed the painting and electrical upgrade to the Office of Budget and Finance; remaining work is still being completed. The construction contractor at 10th and G Streets has completed the work on the handicap curb and wall along the alley. Our Asset Manager worked with Capitol Construction to handle the property from the book store and eBIC closing. Much of the furniture was delivered to other parts of the building. Ceiling lights were replaced in the Great Hall and Popular Library in January and February. Stripping and refinishing of the Great Hall has been completed since the removal of the book store.

Neighborhood Libraries Facilities staff is working with Contracting and Procurement to get the landscape contract

awarded by April 1, 2012. New sump pumps were installed at Capitol View and Northeast; roof repairs were completed at Lamont-Riggs and Capitol View; a new controller for the energy management system was installed at Cleveland Park; a new blower motor for the boiler was installed at Woodridge; and the broken skylight at Tenley was replaced. All preventive maintenance on equipment was completed for February and March. Facilities did a walkthrough with the staff of Stormwater Maintenance Company to look at the work done at Anacostia and Benning Libraries. The green roof, bio-retention work was completed along with other associated work on the inlets and drains. DCPL General Counsel has completed the review of Deanwood MOU and has forwarded it to the General Counsel at Dept. of General Services for their review. She is now working on the MOU for Northwest 1. No Parking signs were installed in the parking lot at Palisades Library because of various accidents from people parking around the rear of the building. Facilities staff was called to handle the cleanup and glass replacement at Francis Gregory after the break-in the morning of February 22. Contractors have installed new VTC flooring in the meeting room and elevator at Chevy Chase. Facilities staff has painted the meeting room, stairwell, stairs and elevator at Chevy Chase. New down pipes were installed at Takoma Park to help eliminate some of the water problems we are having on the basement level. Contractors have installed new sewer ejectors at WT Daniel/Shaw to help eliminate the many problems we were having at that library.

Miscellaneous Items Carpet cleaning has begun at all the neighborhood libraries that are being cleaned by contract
cleaners.
