May 29-June 1 Ages: Rising 6th -8th grade

Hands to Service
Date: June 15 Time: 9:00 am 4:00 pm Place: Wilkes Cooperative Extension Cost: $15 Limit: 15 Ages: 8-12 Learn more about your local, state and national government. Participate in a community service project and speak to an elected official. Workshop will be led by youth who have attended NC Citizenship Focus. Lunch will be included.

June 4 June 7 Ages: Rising 9 12 grade Time: 9:00 am 4:00 pm Place: Wilkes Community College Daniel Hall Cost: $50 Limit: 12 Are you interested in engineering? Electricity? Sign up for this workshop! You will be introduced to basic electricity, and also have the opportunity to use real Computer Aided Design Software (CAD) to experience technology used in 3D product design. Construct a crystal radio and your own solar powered car. Snacks will be provided, please pack a bag lunch. First priority will be given to those who have not attended before.

4-H Investigates
Date: July 24-26 Time: 9:30 am 3:30 pm Place: East Wilkes Middle School Cost: $40 Limit: 10 Ages: 12 18 Participants will become detectives to solve a murder mystery. Join in as we learn about forensic science and play the role of a CSI detective. Participants will tour a diagnostic laboratory, the Surry County Jail and Courthouse. Lunch will be provided. This camp is only open to youth who have never attended before.

Clover Bud Days Que Rico!


Date: June 4 Time: 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Place: Wilkes Cooperative Extension Cost: $15 Limit: 15 Ages: 5-8 Participate in a fun workshop led by trained older youth in a curriculum where they will complete fun projects about Latino customs, cultures and traditional art forms. Bring a bag lunch. Date: June 26-28 Time: 10:00 am-2:00 pm Place: Edwin McGee Center Cost: $25 Limit: 15 Ages: 5-8 Come and learn what the four Hs stand for. Over the three days, you will learn what YOU can do in 4-H! Participants will make a project to take home, and have fun in the kitchen while celebrating 4-H! Bring a bag

Gaming Design

Re-Think, Ramble and Row!


Date: June 6-8 Time: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Place: Meet at Extension Office Cost: $50 Limit: 6 Ages: 13 -18 Participants will meet with 4-H staff to learn to cook and pack healthy lunches. Participants will visit Stone Mtn. State Park for a day of hiking. Finally students will travel to the whitewater center in Charlotte for a day of rafting. Please pack a bag lunch daily.

Cooking and Baking with the Chef


Date: July 25-27 Time: 9:00 am to 12:30 pm Place: Wilkes Community College Culinary Kitchen- Randolph Hall Cost: $30 Limit: 15 Ages: 8 -12 Chefs from Wilkes Community College will help youth learn how to cook and prepare meals and baked goods. Youth will also be instructed in dining etiquette. Career exploration in the food industry will also be a part of this workshop. This workshop is only open to participants who have never attended before.

July 30 August 2 Ages: Rising 6th 8th grade Time: 9:00 am 4:00 pm Place: Wilkes Community College Lowes Hall Cost: $35 Limit: 15 Students will begin by exploring the process of game design from concept through implementation by completing a retro style platform game similar to many arcade classics from the past. Please pack a bag lunch daily.
