welcome to saint lucy caff e cucina! you are now seated on the st lucia cane plantations purchased by william wilson in the 1860s just after he arrived from the island of st lucia in the west indies (we hope you enjoy the good measure of caribbean flair added to our venue surrounds). in a happy twist of fate, william wilson bought these plantations from one william dart who built the original homestead at Hillstone St Lucia (our sister site!). now enter saint lucia (or Lucy as we affectionately call her) - a fiery 4th century sicilian, whose bravery, heroism and typically gory end (google it), saw her become sainted and now associated with all things light and illuminative. great, but how exactly does she relate to a caf you ask? well, apart from the obvious nod to uqs address, our menu is inspired by her italian heritage and we like to think that her great courage and tenacity makes her both an ideal fit for our team and the perfect enlightened vision for our venue. besides, who wouldnt want a little saintly patronage?
