Rides, walks and classes all over town.

This spring and summer, the Minneapolis Bicycling and Pedestrian Program is hosting over 40 rides, walks and classes to help you get back on the streets and trails. Whether you are looking to explore new bikeways in your neighborhood or trying to get the whole family riding, there is something for you. Our maintenance classes will get your bike ready to ride and our safety clinics will help you gain confidence when riding in traffic. Our family series will encourage the whole family to get out, clean their bikes and go for a community ride. For those looking to take a comfortable and gradual approach to staying active, our 55+ Walking and Biking Series is a perfect fit for you.

Stroll Minneapolis, 55+: Walking Wednesday strolls are designed to offer an easy, pleasant social walking experience and to give you the confidence to consider walking as a transportation option. Join us to explore Minneapolis! Walking Wednesdays take place at 10am on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday, March to August. Stroll distances are 1 to 2 miles. Kidical Mass: Once a month we will gather to celebrate and create awareness for the growing presence of kids and families on bikes. We will meet at local parks around the city and ride to family friendly destinations. Rides are typically 3 miles at a 5-6 mph pace on quiet residential streets. We will ride as a group and will travel as fast as our slowest riders. Rides will leave starting locations at 9:30am. Helmets are required for all Kidical Mass riders. Saturday Family Series: Riding safely starts with having a bike in good repair. Start the spring wiping down your bike and making sure everything is in working order. This clinic will teach you and your child how to identify possible mechanical problems and make simple repairs. Once your bike is ready to ride, youll give it a go on a handling course or a short ride around the community. Helmets are required for all Family Series riders. Neighborhood Bicycle Tours: Do you want to get out and ride, but you dont feel comfortable sharing the road with cars? This class will teach you about finding a route, planning trips and riding safely and comfortably with traffic. We will ride some of Minneapolis great bikeways and make stops at bikefriendly businesses. All rides are easy-paced and led by bicycle instructors. Please bring bike lights if you are attending a 6pm class. Basic Bike Maintenance: Keeping your bike working isnt rocket science, but it does take a little knowhow and occasional grimy hands. This class includes tire inflation, brake adjustment, cleaning & lubricating a bike chain and changing a tube. Participants will receive free inner tube patch kits.
