Immigrant Contributions to America and to the World!


The United States is the nation it is today for many reasons. Immigrants have added much to our story, and affect our country economically, politically, and socially. To showcase these many contributions, we will create a quilt of Important American Immigrants at Spring Street!

Your assignment is to: * Choose an important/famous immigrant from the list below or another important immigrant with whom you and/or your family have knowledge. See your Social Studies teacher if you have any questions. * Complete the attached Did You Know? fact sheet using web sites your parents allow you to open and use; see teacher for assistance if needed. * Draw a picture of the person in the space provided (drawn with pencils or colored pencils) or copy/paste or print/glue a photo from the Internet into that space. You should also include a picture of what he/she invented. * Write persons name/country of origin, what he/she is famous for, and year he/she immigrated to the United States (if known) on the lines below your picture. *Write YOUR NAME on the bottom line. * Bring Did You Know? fact sheet and illustration/photo in by _______________________________________ In class, you will summarize your information in a short writing piece.
