Monthly Journal March 2012 I. Activities

As a new deploys RN Heals in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, we had a month orientation in the RHU. I familiarized all the daily routine schedules like medical check ups, weekly EPI, weekly pre-natal, and case to case basis like wound dressing, BP taking, deliveries and documenting the entire clients profile. These were the activities usually encounter in the RHU. My field of information became wider when I attended the seminar, appointed by MHO, entitled Roll out on the Modular Guide Sessions with Parent Group held last March 5-9, 2012 together with my colleague (Rhea Jane Cagas), Dep-Ed, LGU, RHU, and DSWD (the sponsor agency). The scope of 4 Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), the Role of CHT (Community Health Team), Family Planning, Parenting and Life of husband wife, healthy pregnancy and its risks/complications, Family Spirituality, Lessons for caring the Baby, Child Welfare and Rights, Child Abuse, STIs HIV/AIDS, savings managing and budgeting, Nutritional facts, Human trafficking, Gardening, and how to become independent individuals in the community were the topics being tackled during the seminar. There were also team building, counseling and trainings being demonstrate for us to become the role model and the supervisors during the profiling of the navigators for the benefit of the 4Ps. I was freshen up with the new information that I will be using during the family visits so that I can give them the correct and right information and convince all of them that health is essential to our life.

Learning/ Insights

At first it made me stressed to familiarize all the activities in the area. But then I face it as a new challenge to learn. I had low confident in administering EPIs, locating the FHT in pregnant mother, suturing lacerated wounds. Its a great job III. Issues and Concerns

One of my concerns is our 2000 pesos budget from the LGU. It is a big help for us especially me, not a resident of San Miguel. I was renting a room so it will be added to my monthly expenses.

IV.

Recommendation

The DOH must help us mandate the LGU to provide us the extra Stipend that we are receiving from DOH.
