"Bad Twin"

1) EXT. JUNGLE. HYDRA ISLAND. DUSK.

Christine is helping the last of the prisoners out of the massive bird cages that she found
when Margaret led her to her children which were being held there along with all
the "others" after the DI attacked the island in 5.17. As Christine is helping them all out,
Emma (her daughter) tugs on Christine's shirt. Christine looks down at Emma and sincerely
says:

Christine:

What is it, baby?

Emma:

We need to help Auntie Amelia.

Christine:

Who?

Zach steps forward.

Zach:

The woman who took care of us after Cindy left.

Christine:

Cindy? Amelia... oh, you mean the old woman.

Emma shakes her head "yes." Christine looks at them rather pissed because they seem
to care more about Amelia than they do her.

Christine:

Look, that woman tried to hurt me... she can fend for herself.
 The kids just stare at Christine. She looks at them and sees they are upset.

Christine:

Besides, I don't even know where she is...

Zach:

We heard them.

Emma:

They have her in the medical place.

Christine:

Oh... there.

Zach:

So you know where it is!

Without saying anything, Christine just stands up and takes a deep breath and looks at
Zach and Emma. The camera cuts to:

2) INT. FAKE STAFF STATION. HYDRA ISLAND. DUSK.

Christine sneaks through the front door of the Staff Station by using Margaret's key-card
that she stole in the previous episode. Christine walks in and looks around, but no one
seems to be there. She looks around and then she heads down the hallway looking into
each room as she goes. Each one appears to be empty until she finds the one with Amelia.
She swings open the door and sure enough, there sits Amelia and across from her is
Richard! Christine looks at the two of them and she looks at Richard and has a mini-flash of
him trying to kill her when she first got to the island 5.10. She gulps and looks at the both
of them.

Christine:

Come on! Let's go...

They don't move, they just look at her. She is confused.

Christine:

Let's go! They're gonna find out I'm here, now move it!

They just sit there.

Christine:

What's wrong with you people?! If you don't leave, they're going to kill you!

Amelia gets up and she turns back to Richard. She very sweetly says:
 Amelia:

Come on, Richard. You should come too.

Richard:

No. It's too risky. You go on, without me.

Amelia:

But... you heard her, they're going to kill you!

Richard:

I know, but it's better than the chances of me killing everyone. This is something you should
think about too, Amelia.

Amelia:

I'll be careful. I swear.

Christine watches the conversation and doesn't quite understand what the hell is going
on. She then hears someone from down the hall and she grabs Amelia and shuts Richard's
door. The two of them run down the hallway to the entrance and out the front of the fake
Staff. Just before they make it out, Deater spots them and follows.

3) INT. STAFF STATION. MAIN ISLAND. DUSK.

Kate, Claire, Jin, Sawyer and Frank make their way into the Staff Station on the main
island. They walk in and they look a bit overwhelmed as they turn on the lights. The station
is in pristine condition. It looks just as it did when it was first built and how it looked back in
1978. It also looks just like the fake station does on the Hydra. Kate looks around and sees
the OR room. She tells Sawyer, who has Frank on his shoulder:

Kate:

Put him down over there.

Claire:

I... I don't understand. This place looks brand new.

Kate:

Yeah... I don't get it either.

Sawyer puts Frank down on the table. He then walks over to a chair on the side of the
room and he slumps down in it, obviously tired. He looks to his left and on a small table
beside the chair is a book. He picks it up and looks at it. It is "Bad Twin" by Gary Troupe.
Sawyer looks at it a bit confused as he looks up at Kate and says:

Sawyer:
This book. I... I read the manuscript back at the beach camp before Dr. Jackass threw it in
the fire... I only had 10 pages left.

Claire:

So?

Sawyer:

Well smarty, if I read the manuscript, then how is the book published?!

Claire:

Well, the island did move to 2009, didn't it?

Kate:

We have more important things to think about.

Sawyer:

Such as?

Kate:

What we do next...

They all look at each-other. Jin is in the background changing his own bandages from the
operation. Claire is looking at the mini-fridge where the injections she tried to find for Aaron
in "Maternity Leave" were supposed to be stored. Kate sees that Sawyer is tired, Frank and
Jin are wounded and Claire looks worried beyond belief about Aaron. Kate turns and begins
walking out of the station. Sawyer notices.

Sawyer:

Where you goin?!

Kate:

To find help.

She turns back.

Kate:

Alone. You guys get some rest.

Sawyer just looks at her and can see she is dead serious. Kate has taken command. He
just nods and Kate turns and walks back out of the Station.

4) INT. MARGARET'S OFFICE. HYDRA ISLAND. DUSK.

 Christine busts through Margaret's door as she, Zach and Emma walk in and find Hurley
and Walt still tied down in their beds. Christine rushes over to Walt and unties him. She
then nudges him to wake him up. Walt opens his eyes and looks around.

Walt:

Christine?

Christine:

Shhhh....

Christine then moves over to Hurley and unties him. He is tossing around and mumbling
something to himself. She gets him untied and she nudges him. He isn't waking up. He
mumbles:

Hurley:

José, José?

Christine notices Hurley must be dreaming or something. She nudges him harder, but
with no luck. Finally, Christine pulls her hand back and then slaps Hurley across the face,
SMACK! Hurley jumps up and pushes Christine off of him and he screams:

Hurley:

José!!!

The camera is focused on Hurley's face as the flash sound begins...

5) --FLASH-- HURLEY'S CHILDHOOD HOME. LOS ANGELES. DAY.

We see a young, thin Hurley (as we had in previous flashes). He is in his basement at a
ping-pong table playing against someone, but we can't see who just yet. The balls bounces
back and forth, back and forth, back and forth until finally whoever he is playing with hits
the ball and knocks it clear across the room.

Little Hurley:

AH! You jerk!

He runs across the room to get it and he bends down to pick the ball up and as he does
this, someone steps up to him. He looks up and he sees his mother, Carmen, standing over
him looking down. She is wearing a nice dress and she doesn't look happy.

Carmen:

Hugo Reyes! You march your skinny little butt up the stairs right now and you get your
Sunday suit on! We're going to be late for church and Jesus doesn't approve of lateness!!!
Now Go!!!

Hurley looks at her as he picks up the ping-pong ball.

Little Hurley:
 But...

Carmen:

No buts! March!

Hurley runs up the stairs and Carmen looks into the room where Hurley was playing
ping-pong.

Carmen:

You too! Your brother isn't the only one in trouble mister!

The camera cuts to Hurley's bedroom. Hurley is tying his tie as he looks in the mirror and
his older brother, Diego, runs into the room and jumps up on one of the two beds.

Diego:

Awwww, you are in so much trouble!!!

Little Hurley:

What?! What did I do?!

Diego:

You knocked over mom's plant in the basement and there's dirt everywhere....

Little Hurley:

No I didn't!

Diego:

Well, that's what mom's saying!

Hurley thinks. He looks up.

Little Hurley:

It wasn't me! I swear! I bet it was José!

Diego:

Yeah, right. José again, huh?

Just then Carmen Reyes is standing in the doorway. She looks up at Hurley, furious.

Carmen:

You knocked over my ficus!?

Little Hurley:
 No!

Carmen just gives Hurley a disapproving look.

Little Hurley:

Nu huh! He did it! José did it!

Carmen:

What did I tell you about blaming things on José. You know he didn't do this. You have to
take responsibility for your actions, Hugo!

Little Hurley:

But... He did!

Just then, we see someone walk into the doorway behind Carmen. It is another little
Hurley! Hurley looks at the other Hurley who just stands there, smiling deviously. The
camera focuses on Hurley staring at the Hurley in the doorway. Diego and Carmen don't
seem to notice the second Hurley at all and Carmen stares at Hugo.

Carmen:

Well?! What do you have to say for yourself?!

Little Hugo:

He did it! (he points to the second Hugo)

Carmen looks down towards where Hurley saw the second Hugo then back to Hurley.
Diego interjects.

Diego:

Yeah right, we all know it, Hugo...

Little Hugo shoots a look at Diego.

Diego:

You're the bad twin...

Just then, Carmen puts her hand down around the second Hugo standing next to her as
the music builds! He isn't a figment of Hurley's imagination!

Carmen:

Hugo, go clean that up, now! Don't make me get your father after you! Come on José...

Carmen takes José's hand and Diego jumps off the bed and walks past Hurley. He shoves
him and says:
 Diego:

Dude, José outsmarts you every time...

Hugo just stands there, furious as he watches Diego, his mother and his twin brother,
José walk down the hall. José turns back at Hurley and once again gives a really devious
smile as Hurley watches on really pissed off. The music builds to a peak and cuts to:

6) --FLASH-- EXT. BACKYARD. HURLEY'S CHILDHOOD HOME. DAY.

We see little Hurley sitting at a picnic table reading through a magazine. On the cover it
has a photo of two people playing ping-pong. He looks up and across the table to José who
is sitting there reading a comic book. Hurley says:

Hurley:

Dude, we should totally sign up for the Southern California Ping-Pong tournament...

José:

You realize we'd have to play against other people, right?

Hurley:

So?

José:

Well, duh... the only reason we're as good as we are is because we know what the other's
next move is...

Hurley:

Not true.

José picks up his hand and puts it in front of Hurley.

José:

Rock, paper scissors, go!

They throw their hands out and 1,2,3 they both throw out Rock. Again, 1,2,3 they both
throw out scissor. 1,2,3 they both throw out rock again. 1,2,3 they both throw out paper.

José:

See.

Hurley stands corrected. He goes back to reading his magazine. José reads his comic
again and his eyes light up as he reads something. He throws a look at Hurley and slams
down the comic in front of Hurley and points. Hurley looks down. It is an ad for the
"International Society of Twin Studies." Hurley looks at the ad and it lists convention dates
as well as what the society does. There is a list of studies the society does including:
Methodology, Epidemiology, Statistics, Psychology, Parapsychology and Neonatology. Hurley
just looks at José.

Hurley:

What?

José:

They're holding one in San Diego next month!

Hurley:

So?

José:

We can go, we can find out why we... well, why we have our... connection!

Hurley:

Dude, we don't have a connection!

José:

Whatever, Hugo. I'm gonna go see what dad's up to.

José gets up and he walks towards the house which is behind Hurley. Hurley looks down
at the ping-pong magazine and isn't watching José. José opens the sliding door screen and
is about to take a step inside, but Hurley, without looking, says:

Hurley:

Dude, Stop!

José stops. Hurley, without looking says:

Hurley:

The glass door isn't open.

José turns and he puts his hand out towards the door. It isn't open, but he thought it
was. He looks inside and we see Carmen sitting down a bottle of Windex and paper towels,
she must have just cleaned it spotless. José turns back to Hurley, who looks back.

José:

Uh huh. (smiles as if Hurley shouldn't have known that)

 Hurley looks a bit surprised at that encounter. He stares off for a moment as José walks
inside and just smiles at him. Hurley turns back around and he grabs the ad for the Twin
Society meeting. He stares at it as the flash sound begins...

7) --END OF FLASH-- INT. MARGARET'S OFFICE. HYDRA ISLAND. DUSK.

Hurley is now up and he is staring at himself in the mirror. Christine is saying his name,
but he isn't paying attention. Finally, she taps him on the back and he turns around. She
looks at his strangely.

Christine:

Are you all right?

Hurley:

Uh, yeah... just uh... nothing.

Christine:

I killed Margaret.

Hurley looks at Christine blankly.

Christine:

She was going to kill me... Hurley, she said Roberta's gonna kill everyone... all of us. We
need to go!

Walt:

Where?

Christine:

We got to find Jack. He'll know what to do.

Just then, the door swings open and Deater is standing there with a gun pointed at all of
them. They all turn and stare at him. Christine reaches for her gun and pulls it on Deater.
The two of them stand there and just point at each-other.

Christine:

Put your gun down, or I'll shoot!

Deater doesn't listen. Christine looks nervous. She looks down at Zach and then she
looks back up at Deater and BANG! Christine shoots him in the shoulder! Deater drops his
gun and screams out in pain! Christine grabs her kids and waves on Hurley and Walt.

Christine:

Come on!
 The five of them take off out the door as Deater sits on the ground grabbing his shoulder.
On the way out Hurley grabs Deater's gun and they all take off down the hall and stop. The
hall is T shaped and there are two ways to go. Christine stops and turns to Hurley. They just
look at each-other when suddenly, Deater pulls out a second gun from his leg and fires! The
bullets whiz past Hurley and Christine shouts:

Christine:

Go that way! He can't follow both of us!

Hurley:

But...

BANG BANG!! Deater fires again at the 5 of them! Hurley turns and grabs Walt and they
take off down the hall to the right. Christine and her kids take off to the left. Deater runs to
the end of the hall and looks in both directions. Finally, he chooses to run after Hurley and
Walt.

8) INT. ROBERTA'S OFFICE. DUSK.

Roberta walks through the Hydra Complex from the "Man with the Tubes" office and into
her office. She walks in and goes straight to her desk where she sits and notices that the
document "To Be Terminated" is on the top of her desk. She looks at it a bit surprised when
just then we hear a gun being cocked and pointed to the side of her head. Without looking
up she says:

Roberta:

Jack, I can explain.

The camera pulls back and we see Jack pointing the gun at Roberta's head and Dr.
Berger is standing beside him and he doesn't appear to be pleased with Roberta.

Jack:

You know, I'm pretty sick of your half-assed explanations, Roberta.

Roberta:

This list isn't what you think it is...

Dr. Berger:

Ah, zen vat vas it intended to be?! It says, right zere, you vere going to kill me!

Roberta turns to Dr. Berger and looks at him.

Roberta:

Hans, I see you've decided to turn against us.

Jack:
I think everyone will turn against you once they find out your plans... what the hell are you
doing here, Roberta?

Roberta:

This list, Jack, wasn't a list of people to kill. It was a list of people to terminate.... from the
island.... to send home!

Dr. Berger:

Vhy vould you send us home?!

Roberta:

Before the end, Hans. To save all of your lives.

Jack doesn't seem to be buying a single word of this.

Jack:

From what? What aren't you telling us, what is going to 'end' all this?!

Roberta:

Jack, it's best that you don't know...

Dr. Berger:

I vant to know... and you are going to tell us, now!

Roberta:

I can't do that, Hans...

Hans reaches across the desk and grabs Roberta by her lapel. He pulls her up from her
seat and screams:

Dr. Berger:

I'm sick of being in ze dark!

Just then, there is a gun to the back of Dr. Berger's head. The camera pulls back and we
see Maxwell holding it! Jack turns his gun on Maxwell.

Maxwell:

Lower your weapon, Jack.

Jack:

Or what? You'll shoot him?!

Maxwell:
 Yes.

Jack:

And you think I care?

Maxwell thinks for a moment and turns his gun on Jack.

Maxwell:

I guess I didn't think this one out too far... I see you aren't quite the hero you used to be,
Jack.

Jack:

No, my hero days are over... I only want one thing now....

Roberta:

And what's that?

Jack:

I want to get me and ALL of my friends off this island.

Maxwell:

And how do you intend to do that, Jack?

Jack:

Roberta, here, just admitted the termination list was a list of people she planned on sending
off. She can get us off... unless of course, she's lying.

Jack turns his gun on Roberta.

Jack:

And if she can't... I shoot her and then... then I kill the rest of you.

Roberta looks at Maxwell like "what the hell, why not?"

Roberta:

Lower your weapon, Clark.

She turns to Jack.

Roberta:

Fine, Jack... you win.

Jack:
 I win?! Just like that, I win?

Roberta:

The whole operation is to be shut down anyway... I might as well save who I can... but first,
first there is something we have to do.

Jack:

What's that?

Roberta:

We need to get to the Orchid.

Jack just looks at her. She looks back.

Roberta:

Well, you just going to stare at me or are we going?

Jack thinks for a moment, he waves her on. She takes out her walkie and speaks into it.

Roberta:

Edward, we're going to the Orchid. Bring him... meet us at the ferry in 20 minutes.

Roberta picks up a few of her things and doesn't seem to care that Jack still has a gun on
her. She walks out of the office and turns back to Jack.

Roberta:

Jack, put the damn gun away.

She turns back and walks out. Jack looks at the gun and then puts it into his pants. He
and Berger look at each-other and follow Roberta and Maxwell out the door.

9) EXT. JUNGLE. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

Ben, Charlotte and Daniel are walking through the jungle. Ben stops and turns back to
the two of them.

Ben:

This is it. I'm going to go find the others. You two, you know what to do. I will meet you
there.

Daniel and Charlotte shake their heads as if they understand. Ben takes off into the
jungle one direction and Charlotte and Daniel take off in the other. The camera follows Ben
as he makes his way through the trees. Suddenly he just stops. He turns around and says:

Ben:

Where have you been?

 The camera turns and it is Juliet. She looks upset.

Juliet:

I gave Aaron to Christian.

Ben:

Oh, Juliet... that is... very unfortunate.

He just stares at her.

Ben:

I think we both know what you have to do now...

Juliet looks down and she nods her head as if she understands. The camera cuts to
Daniel and Charlotte making their way to the beach where they are walking along the path
and Charlotte spots something. She stops Daniel.

Charlotte:

What is that?

The move closer. Daniel takes out a flashlight from his pack and turns it on. He shines it
at whatever it is Charlotte just saw. It is Widmore! He is tied to a tree in front of them and
he looks horrible. He looks like he's been beaten to a bloody pulp! Charlotte gasps.

Charlotte:

Uncle?!

Just then, Sanjit walks out from behind the tree Widmore is tied to and he is holding a
gun. He smiles in a very cocky way as he says:

Sanjit:

Uncle?... no... why don't we try.... daddy?

Charlotte and Daniel just stare at Sanjit and Widmore as the camera cuts to Charlotte's
face and the music builds and cuts to:

10) EXT. JUNGLE. NIGHT.

Kate is walking through the jungle and looking up into the trees and to the left and right
as if she is trying to find a specific place. Eventually she just stops and turns around. There
stands Locke. She looks at him a bit hesitant as he smiles at her.

Kate:

Why here? Why'd you want to meet here... at this exact spot? What is this?
 Locke:

That's no matter.

Kate:

... ok? .... So, what am I supposed to do now, Locke?

Locke:

We stick to the plan.

Kate:

Using Ben? I don't know... I mean, how do you know he isn't part of all this?

Locke:

He's not. I wouldn't underestimate him when it comes to the island Kate. Believe it or not,
he cares about this place... almost as much as I do.

Kate:

That's great, but how are we supposed to pull this off? How do we purge their whole
organization?

Locke:

That, you will need to figure that out yourself, but I will tell you this... you are capable of
doing this, Kate. I have faith in you.

Kate just stands there, not sure of what to do or say. She stares at Locke for a moment
then says:

Kate:

... why?

Locke:

You are stronger than you think.

Kate:

You obviously don't know me, John.

Locke:

I know you better than you think.

There is a CRACK in the woods. Locke turns to look at it. He turns back to Kate.

Locke:
 This is why we met here.

Just then, Ben comes out of the woods. Kate and he just look at each-other then she
turns back to Locke, who is now gone.

Ben:

Who were you talking to?

Kate:

... no one. Where have you been?

Ben:

Making arrangements.

Kate:

With who? For what?

Ben:

We're going to invade, Kate. And we need to sacrifice two of your people.

Kate just stands there looking at Ben.

11) EXT. HYDRA ISLAND. NIGHT.

Hurley and Walt are running from Deater and they come across Maxwell's office. Hurley
and Walt sneak in and they make their way through the weird looking devices and
machines. In the background we see a small scaled down replica of the Stations. All of them
except the Number Station and the Secret Room within the Tempest. Hurley and Walt sit
across the room looking at the door. Walt, who looks scared, looks up at Hurley.

Walt:

Who is that guy?

Hurley:

He's a bad guy, dude.

Walt:

Whys he want to kill us?

Hurley:

They want to kill all of us, I don't know why...

Walt:
 But... they have to have a reason... they wouldn't just kill us...

Hurley:

Dude, it's not always that easy.

Walt:

What do you mean? Why would they just want to kill us, for no reason?!

Hurley:

Some people are just... screwed up.

Deater's shadow walks past the door. Hurley swallows hard as Deater's shadow stops in
front of the door. The flash sound begins...

12) --FLASH-- INT. CONVENTION CENTER. SAN DIEGO. DAY.

Hurley, José and David Reyes all walk through the front doors of the "International Twin
Society Convention 1987". José looks around and the place is packed of twins. José turns to
David.

José:

Can we...

David:

Yes, just go. I'll meet you guys back here (he looks at his watch) at 4:15.

José and Hurley take off and David screams:

David:

Be careful!

He watches as Hurley and José run off into the crowd. The camera cuts to the
parapsychology booth where Hurley and José are looking through some of the cool things.
The booth operator walks up and says:

Operator:

You boys think you have some sort of connection, don't ya?

José smiles and looks up at the operator and smiles.

José:

We sure do!

Operator:

Well, want to test it out?

 Hurley doesn't look to keen on the idea, but he sees just how excited José is about it.

Hurley:

Yeah, sure.

The operator sits down and that's when we see who it is: It is Amelia!

Amelia:

Ok, go ahead. Take a seat.

Hurley and José sit down. Amelia pulls out a card and gives it to José. She says:

Amelia:

Think about what you see on that card, with all your concentration. (she turns to Hurley) I
want you to concentrate just as hard on your brother.

The camera cuts to José and his card. On it is a red ball. Hurley and José make eye
contact and it looks like they are both thinking incredibly hard. The music builds as Hurley is
staring and completely concentrating on José. Amelia turns to Hurley and says:

Amelia:

Ok, what is he thinking? What is on the card?

Hurley, looking like he and José have a complete connection, stares at José as the music
continues to build and he says:

Hurley:

A dog.

José, disappointed, flips the card around and shows Hurley the picture.

Hurley:

Oh.

Amelia looks a little disappointed herself as she smiles and sweetly says:

Amelia:

Well, that was a bit of a stretch. Most... higher connections... we learned, happen when one
of the twins are in trouble, or in danger.

Hurley:

What is the point of this?

Amelia:
Oh, the study of psychological connections is something of vast interest and scientific study.
We are trying to determine just how connected twins really are.

José stands up and says:

José:

I need to go to the bathroom. Hugo, stay here... I want to try this again.

Amelia sees José saying this and she turns. She picks up her walkie talkie and says
something out of audio range. José runs off towards the bathroom and Hurley says to
Amelia:

Hurley:

So, you got a twin?

Amelia:

Oh, well... not exactly.

Hurley looks at her strangely as she looks back up towards where José ran off to. The
camera cuts to the bathroom where we see José coming out of a stall. José goes up to the
sink and he starts washing his hands. José looks up into the mirror and standing behind him
is a man in a mask! The man puts his hand over José's mouth and pulls him backwards! The
camera cuts back to Hurley who is talking with Amelia:

Hurley:

Really?! I just thought that was a myth!

Amelia:

No, no... there are several cases that once a twin passes, the other can still someone
communicate with them... in the afterlife.

Hurley looks like he is totally interested when all of a sudden he jumps up. He turns
towards the bathrooms then back to Amelia.

Hurley:

I... I'll be right back!!

Hurley runs towards the bathrooms. Amelia looks on and she ever so slightly smiles as if
she is happy to see Hurley does, in fact, have some sort of connection with José. The
camera cuts to the bathroom as Hurley busts through the door and looks around for his
brother.

Hurley:

José! José!! Where are you?!

 Hurley looks at the window, which is now open. He runs over to it and looks out. Down
the alleyway we see the man in the black mask pulling José into the parking lot. Hurley
jumps out of the window and runs down the alleyway towards his brother screaming:

Hurley:

Let him go! José!! Let him go!!

The man in the mask turns back to Hurley and sees him. José is kicking and fighting as
Hurley rushes towards him and the masked man. Hurley reaches the end of the alleyway.
He looks around and spots a cop!

Hurley:

Officer! There! Help!

The officer turns and sees José being abducted. The masked man turns around and sees
the cop and he lets go of José. The masked man runs off and the cop chases after him. José
turns to Hurley and smiles through his tears and begins running towards Hurley. Hurley
smiles and runs towards José. They both reach the road where Hurley stops and looks both
ways, but José doesn't. Hurley sees a truck coming and turns back to José and tries to
scream for him to stop, but nothing comes out! Without looking twice, José runs into the
road and the truck driver sees him at the last minute! The truck driver slams his breaks on,
but not in time!! He was going too fast and he smashes into José!!! Hurley just stands
there, wide-eyed, not even 5 feet away as his brother is slammed into by the truck!!!
Hurley, stunned, just stands there in shock as a tear rolls down his face and the flash sound
begins...

13) --END OF FLASH-- INT. MAXWELL'S OFFICE. NIGHT.

Hurley is standing there, out of it as Walt tugs on his shirt as Deater has entered the
office. Hurley and Walt get down and hide under a table as Deater walks past in the
darkness trying to find them. Deater looks around and it seems as though he senses they
are in there. He cocks his gun. Walt, horrified, looks at Hurley in fear.

14) EXT. FERRY DOCK. HYDRA ISLAND. NIGHT.

Roberta, Maxwell, Jack and Dr. Berger are standing on the dock and appear to be waiting
for someone. Roberta looks at her watch. Jack notices she seems to be rather impatient.

Jack:

Why so nervous?

Roberta:

I'm... not nervous.

Jack:

Yeah... ok.

Maxwell:
 She has an issue with time.

Roberta shoots a look at Maxwell.

Maxwell:

What? You do.

Dr. Berger:

Vat are we vaiting for?

Roberta:

Our chance at a do-over.

Jack:

A do-over?

Roberta:

Yeah, Jack... a do-over. Do you have a problem with your hearing? You like to repeat
everything, don't you?

Jack:

What?

Maxwell:

Well, that isn't exactly the worst habit for him to have, now is it?

Roberta looks at Maxwell in a coy way. Just then, Edward comes walking up with
someone who has a bag over their head. He reaches the group and then he takes the bag
off. It is Kaname! He isn't looking too great.

Roberta:

What took you so long?!

Edward:

Well, Margaret is missing and I don't know how to operate Room 23.

Maxwell:

Is he ready?

Edward:

I believe so.

Roberta gets up in Edward's face.

 Roberta:

You believe so or is he ready?! We've made enough mistakes as it is, Mr. Lorenz!

Edward:

He's ready.

Roberta:

Good. Let's go.

Maxwell, Dr. Berger, Edward and Kaname make their way onto the boat. Roberta and
Jack are the last to board. Jack looks at Roberta and says:

Jack:

Before I go on a midnight cruise with you, I'd like to know just what the hell your plan is,
Roberta.

Roberta:

Walk and talk, Jack...

They begin walking up to the boat. In the background we see Amelia! She seems to be
sneaking around around the pier and the boat. Jack and Roberta make it up to the deck and
Roberta says:

Roberta:

Jack, there are many things that I don't have time to explain to you, one of which is the
theory behind time travel.

Jack:

Time travel?

Roberta:

Again with the redundancy, Jack... just listen, don't speak.

Jack looks at her.

Roberta:

Time travel is very complicated and it isn't really what you think it is... when someone
travels in time, you can't change anything... unless...

Jack:

Unless you are one of the factors...

Roberta:
 What? You know about this?

Jack:

Yeah, I know all about the DS and Valenzetti's equations.

Roberta:

Precisely... well, Kaname here, he is one of the factors.

Jack:

So... you are going to send him back in time in the Orchid station to change something?

Roberta:

In essence, yes.

Jack:

I'm a factor, why not me? ... What's he going to change?

Roberta:

He's going to... he's going to free you, Jack.

Jack:

Free me? How? How could he possible free me?

Roberta:

He's going to make it so that you were never on that plane.

In the background, we see that Amelia has somehow boarded the ship. When Roberta
says that last line, Amelia's eyes get huge! The music builds and it cuts to:

15) INT. ORCHID. NIGHT.

Roberta, Jack, Kaname, Maxwell, Berger and Edward all get off the Orchid elevator and
walk into the main hallway. Roberta turns to Edward and Maxwell and says:

Roberta:

Prep him.

Maxwell and Edward take Kaname to the main room and Maxwell turns the corner. He
looks at the Chamber and sees that the hole in the side that Ben blew out has been fixed.
He smiles.

Maxwell:
 I see the construction team has been here. Wonderful.

Roberta is about to turn the corner and Jack stops her.

Jack:

You're going to send him back... to when?

Roberta:

To the time he spent here in the 80's.

Jack:

But... he was only there because we crashed on that island in the first place. How is sending
him back there going to even work?

Roberta:

I'm going to have him arrange it so that you never get on that plane. So you never make it
to Australia.

Jack:

What? Just me?

Roberta:

Yes, Jack. Just you.

Jack:

What?! Why?

Roberta:

Think about it, Jack. If you never get on that plane, you never end up here... you will never
even know about this place.

Jack:

But all my friends... they'll still crash here, won't they?

Roberta:

Yes.

Jack turns as if he is in disbelief. He turns back to Roberta.

Jack:

You can't do that! I saved some of them after the crash! A lot of people are alive because of
me!
 Roberta:

Well, I do believe you said back in my office that you were done being the hero... it's your
choice, Jack. You never board that plane, none of this is ever your problem.

Jack:

How... how could this benefit you?

Roberta:

Jack, you were the problem since the beginning. It is you that caused all of this... it's
because of you that the world is going to end in the first place.

Jack:

What?! You're pinning your mistakes on me!? You said this was your fault!

Roberta:

Yeah, our fault because we let you live as long as we did.

Jack:

This... this is madness. There's no other way?

Roberta:

Sanjit is working on that, but if he can't get what we need, then I need you to have your
mind made up.

Jack looks down and starts pacing and looking like this is driving him insane.

Jack:

Jesus...

Roberta:

Well, Jack. It's your choice. You save your friends or you can save the world.

Jack grabs his head and turns around. He looks more torn than ever. Roberta notices
Jack's desperation.

Roberta:

You got to choose, Jack. Time is running out.

Jack shoots a look at Roberta then over to Kaname who is being put in the chamber.

16) EXT. STAFF STATION. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

 Ben is standing outside of the Staff Station as Kate comes out and walks up to him. She
hands him something. Ben looks at her and says:

Ben:

You are sure you want to go through with this?

Kate:

What choice do we have? Make the call.

Ben looks down and Kate has just handed him a walkie that she got from the station. Ben
lifts it up to his face and speaks.

Ben:

Anyone there? Anyone there?

Ben waits a second, then someone comes on the other side.

Man:

This is Dexter, who is this?

Ben:

This is (he breaks up on purpose) There's a situation at the Staff Station. Hostiles have
been seen inside. We need a team to extract them, immediately.

Dexter:

Sorry, who is this?

Ben:

Look! Sanjit ordered me to get you guys over here, now! He wants them back on the
secondary island, pronto! We need them ALIVE. Got that? ALIVE.

Dexter:

We copy that, we can be there in 10. Over and out.

Kate looks at Ben. He looks back at her.

Kate:

You better pray to God that this works...

Ben:

What God?

Ben seems as sinister as ever as the music builds and cuts to:
17) INT. MAXWELL'S OFFICE. HYDRA ISLAND. NIGHT.

Deater's walkie just relayed the last part of Ben's conversation with Dexter. He puts his
walkie down. He is standing right above the table where Hurley and Walt are hiding under.
Just then, we hear a "pppsssss." Hurley turns and looks and hiding under the table across
from them is little José! Hurley's eyes bug out a little as he sees his dead little twin brother.
José looks at Hurley and says:

José:

You just going to let him get you? Let him get Walt... like he got me?!

Hurley looks at him not sure what to say or do. Hurley whispers:

Hurley:

I didn't let him get you!

Walt turns and hits Hurley and looks at him like "shut up!" Deater hears the whisper and
turns back towards Hurley. The flash sound begins...

18) --FLASH-- EXT. HURLEY'S CHILDHOOD HOME. DRIVEWAY.

This is the scene from 3.10 where David Reyes is handing Hurley the candy bar before he
leaves.

David:

Live a little, Hugo. It's just a candy bar. Alright, I'll be back before you know it. Hold down
the fort? You're my man? Alright.

Hurley nods and his father gets on the motorcycle and takes off down the road. Hurley
eats the candy bar as Carmen watches from the window. She turns away. Hurley turns back
towards the car he was just working on and sitting in the driver's seat is José. Hurley drops
the candy bar and stares at him. José just looks at Hurley and says:

José:

He's leaving because of you, you know that?

Hurley:

What?! No he's not!

José:

You let me die.

Hurley:

There's... what could... I'm sorry!

José:
 He tried staying with you for the past 4 months since it happened, but... he can't stand
looking at you anymore.

Hurley:

You know that's not true! Why are you saying this?! You aren't even real!

José:

I am real, Hugo... and I made a friend...

The camera pans back and we see Christian Shephard sitting in the passenger seat!

José:

He showed me things, Hugo... not nice things.

Hurley:

What?!

José:

He wants to be your friend. He wants to help you through this.

Hurley:

I don't need help!

Christian:

We all need a little help, Hugo...

Hurley, looking unbelievably scared, turns and runs towards his house. José and Christian
stay in the car. José looks at Christian.

José:

Why are you making me say these things?

Christian:

Hugo needs to do something for me... a long, long time from now.

José just looks at Christian and then turns back to Hurley who is running into the front
door of his house. The flash sound begins...

19) ---END OF FLASH-- INT. MAXWELL'S OFFICE. NIGHT.

Hurley is sitting there with his hands over his ears as if he is losing it. José looks at him
and says:

José:
 Give yourself up, Hugo... it's the only way.

Deater walks around the table and follows the whispers. He looks somewhat frightened
himself. He says:

Deater:

Unde esti? Vino afară. Eu nu va face rău!

José turns back to Hurley and says:

José:

Give yourself up, Hugo... it's the only way.

Hurley picks up his gun and aims it at José and fires!

Hurley:

You're not here! Leave me alone!

Just then, Deater turns towards the table that Hurley is under and Hurley turns and fires
the gun at Deater! BANG! Hurley shoots Deater in the leg! Deater screams out in pain and
falls to the floor. Hurley grabs Walt and they take off out of the office as Deater fumbles for
his gun.

20) EXT. JUNGLE. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

Sanjit has a gun to Christian's head as Charlotte and Daniel just stare at him. Charlotte
doesn't seem to understand what Sanjit is saying.

Charlotte:

He's not my father! David Staples is my father!

Sanjit:

Not according to this...

He throws the document he found at the Orchid at Charlotte. She picks it up and looks
over it.

Sanjit:

Richard musta left this out of his report...

Charlotte:

What, do you think I'm daft? Like I'm supposed to believe thi...

She's cut off when Sanjit pokes Widmore in the chest with his gun. Widmore manages to
get out:

Widmore:
 It's true.

Charlotte stares at him in disbelief.

Charlotte:

I don't believe you!

Widmore:

We didn't tell you because... your mother and I thought it best (cough). I wasn't... I'm not
father material...

Charlotte:

Why'd she lie to me?!

Widmore:

It was a mistake, Charlotte... I loved you... I love you still, but... I couldn't have raised you
like David could...

Daniel:

What the hell... what's the point of this?!

Sanjit:

Your little girlfriend here, she's going to comply with our demands... or, I shoot her father,
right here, right now.

Charlotte:

What are your demands?

Sanjit:

You come with me and I let your father and your boyfriend go...

Daniel:

You're not using her!

Charlotte:

Using me, for what?!

Daniel:

He wants to use you... to move the island... just like he (he looks at Widmore) used your
mother.

Sanjit:
 Your boyfriend here is a smart man.

Daniel slyly reaches into his bag and pulls out a gun and aims it at Sanjit.

Sanjit:

And a sneaky one at that... well, this just got more interesting, now didn't it? Looks like you
got to make a choice, Charlotte...

Daniel has his gun aimed at Sanjit and Sanjit has his gun aimed at Widmore as the music
builds and it cuts to:

21) EXT. STAFF STATION. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

We see, in the thick of the forest, men in camouflage running in all directions with guns.
One of the men stop in the trees right in front of the Staff Station and he waves on a group
of other men who storm towards the station and open the door. They throw in gas bomb
and we see it explode inside. They all wait for a few moments until finally, we see Claire and
Sawyer run out of the station with their shirts over their mouths and Sawyer has an
automatic weapon and he begins to fire at the men outside! BANG BANG BANG! He
manages to take out a few of them!

Sawyer:

You want me you sons of bitches?! Come get me!!!

Just then one of the men jump down from above the entrance of the station and tackle
Claire taking her to the ground! The camera cuts to the bushes across the clearing where
we see Kate and Ben watching on and Kate looks horribly worried.

Kate:

This isn't going to work! They're going to kill him!

Ben:

No, they wouldn't disobey orders... he's doing a great job.

Kate:

I don't know... damn it, why'd I let you do this?!

The camera cuts back to Sawyer as he turns and shoots the guy who tackled Claire.
Sawyer looks down at Claire and says:

Sawyer:

Now!
 Claire reaches in her pocket and she pulls out a grenade! She rips the pin out and she
whips it into the trees where the men are hiding. BLAM!!! The grenade explodes and men go
flying! One of the men near-by radios.

Dexter:

This is Dexter, come in, I repeat this is Dexter! We have a situation!

22) EXT. BOAT DOCK. MAIN ISLAND.

A man standing guard at the boat dock picks up his walkie when he hears Dexter. He
looks at the second guard and picks up his walkie.

Man:

This is Morgan, what's your status?

Dexter:

They aren't coming easily! We're at the Staff, we need back-up. Now!

Man:

But... we're the only...

Dexter:

Now! They have explosives!

The two guards look at each-other and they turn back and wave on a few more men.

Morgan:

Let's go, Staff Station... now! Move it!

The men all take off towards the Staff Station. As they run off into the jungle, Juliet
sneaks out of a bush nearby. She looks around making sure that no one spots her and she
runs up the pier and up onto one of the boats. The camera cuts back to:

23) EXT. BUSHES. JUNGLE. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

Ben looks at Kate after Dexter makes his call. He turns back and behind him is Jin and
Frank.

Ben:

He's doing a fine job, don't worry, he'll be ok.

The camera cuts to Sawyer and Claire and finally, one of the men knocks the gun out of
Sawyer's hand from behind and tackles Sawyer sending him to the ground. The man puts
his foot on Sawyer's head and Dexter walks up and grabs Claire.

Dexter:
 You just made a big mistake, buddy...

With that, Dexter takes a club out and smashes Sawyer in the head with it. He turns to
Claire and knocks her out too! Kate sees this from the bushes and she is about to jump out,
but Ben stops her.

Kate:

This wasn't part of the plan!

Ben:

It's too late, Kate... we have them right where we need them...

Kate turns and looks back at Sawyer and Claire who have been knocked out as the DI
men scramble to get them back to the ship. Kate looks really pissed off and really guilty
about what she had just done.

24) EXT. JUNGLE. MAIN ISLAND. NIGHT.

We see Daniel and Charlotte sitting on a log. Daniel has Charlotte in his arms as he says:

Daniel:

You made the right decision...

Charlotte:

What happens next?! (crying) What happens to me now?!

Daniel:

I don't know... I..

The camera pans up as Daniel looks forward. Up against the tree we see Widmore. He's
dead and has a bullet hole in his forehead.

Daniel:

I... don't know...

The camera cuts back to Widmore's dead body hanging on the tree.

25) INT. ORCHID STATION. NIGHT.

Roberta is standing there looking at Jack. Maxwell turns around and says:

Maxwell:

He's ready.

Roberta turns to a broken Jack.

Roberta:
 Well, Jack... what's it going to be?

Jack:

It will save everyone else... the world?

Roberta:

It will.

Jack:

There's no other way?!

Just then Roberta's walkie goes off. She answers.

Roberta:

Yeah?

The camera cuts to Sanjit in the jungle.

Sanjit:

I couldn't get the girl. The little guy had a gun, I wasn't expecting that.

Roberta:

It's done then.

She hangs up her walkie and looks at Jack.

Roberta:

Now... well, now... it's the only way.

Jack thinks for a moment then finally says:

Jack:

Fine.

Roberta turns to Edward.

Roberta:

You're sure he knows what to do?

Edward:

Like I said, this is Margaret's area of...

Roberta:
 Is he ready or not!?

Edward:

Yes.

Roberta:

Do it.

Maxwell turns and messes with some of the controls on the computer in front of him. Just
then, Amelia, dirty from the cages, walks out of the darkness of the hallway.

Amelia:

Don't do this, Roberta! You don't know what you're doing!

Roberta turns to her, surprised.

Roberta:

How the hell'd she get down here?

Roberta turns towards Jack.

Amelia:

She's not doing this to save anyone! She's doing it to kill everyone!

Jack turns to Amelia shocked and unsure of what's going on. He shoots a look at Roberta.

Roberta:

She's crazy, Jack... she doesn't...

Amelia:

She wants to kill everyone for her Utopia! You have to stop her! She's mad!

Just then, out of the shadows of one of the offices a second Amelia walks out and is
cleanly dressed and looks nice!!!

Amelia 2:

Stop it!

Roberta's eyes show shock.

Roberta:

What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be on the Hydra!

Amelia 2:
 I knew she would show up here.

Amelia 1 turns to Amelia 2. She starts to walk towards her. Amelia 2 backs up.

Roberta:

This is exactly why I told you to stay at the Hydra! How'd she get out of her cage?!

Amelia 1:

How could you let her do this?

Amelia 2:

This is how it has to be...

Amelia 1 walks closer towards Amelia 2.

Amelia 2:

Stay back... you know what will happen if you get too close...

Amelia 1:

What's it matter, she's gonna kill us all anyway... I might as well just do it now...

Jack looks back and forth as if he has no idea what is going on. He turns to Roberta, who
looks really uncomfortable with this situation.

Amelia 2:

You wanted this once too, you know?

Amelia 1:

Maybe, but I found a better path...

Roberta, really hating the situation, turns and grabs the gun off of Jack and aims at
Amelia 1, but not before Amelia 1 starts to walk faster towards Amelia 2! Roberta aims and
fires, BANG!!! She accidentally shoots the wrong Amelia! Amelia 1 turns around and then
again, BANG! Both Amelias fall to the floor!! Jack turns to Roberta in shock.

Jack:

What the hell?!

Roberta turns back to Maxwell.

Roberta:

Fire it up, now!

 Just then Roberta's walkie goes off and we hear Dexter. It cuts to him as Claire and
Sawyer are being hauled up onto the boat. He says through his walkie.

Dexter:

We secured Ford and Littleton... we're taking them back to the Hydra.

Roberta looks at her walkie then up at Jack as if she didn't want him to hear that.

Jack:

Claire?!... Aw, no! Shut this down, NOW!

Jack steps forward towards Roberta, but she has his gun now and she aims it at him as
she says to Maxwell while staring at Jack.

Roberta:

Send him.

Just then, Maxwell presses a button and the white light from the Chamber pierces
through the room as the music builds and cuts to:

26) EXT. HYDRA JUNGLE. NIGHT.

The camera is behind a gimpy man as he makes his way through the jungle towards
heavy breathing. The camera pulls up and it is Deater and he is struggling to make it
towards Hurley who we can hear breathing. Him and Walt make it to a section of the jungle
and stop. Hurley looks ahead and there is nothing, but a cliff. He turns back around and he
can hear Deater coming. Walt looks at him scared.

Walt:

What do we do!?

Hurley:

I... I don't know...

Just then, in front of the cliff, we see Christian Shephard. Hurley sees him.

Hurley:

What do you want?!

Christian:

You have to give it up, Hugo. Don't make the same mistake twice. Act while you still can.
You don't want to have what happened to José to happen again to Walt, do you?

Hurley:
 I didn't kill him! It's not my fault! My dad didn't leave because of me, he left cause of his
own guilt! He left cause he wasn't watching us how he should have been! My mother told
me so!

Christian:

Of course she told you that, Hugo.

Walt turns towards Christian.

Walt:

Leave him alone!

Hurley turns to Walt.

Hurley:

You see him?

Walt:

Yeah, he's a bad man!

Just then, Deater comes up behind them and aims his gun at Hurley and Walt. Hurley
turns and raises his gun at Deater.

Hurley:

Dude, why won't you just die?!

Christian:

Just give yourself up, Hugo.

Hurley grabs Walt and pushes him behind him. Hurley and Deater stand there with their
guns aimed at each-other and Hurley starts walking sideways in a circle. Deater follows
Hurley's lead and walks sideways in a circle too keeping the same distance between them.
Christian says:

Christian:

This is what you have to do, Hugo...

Hurley:

It's because of you, isn't it... it's your fault I see dead people, isn't it?! You used my
brother's connection with me... it's because of you that he shows me these dead people!

Christian just looks at Hurley as Hurley turns to rage. The flash sound begins...

27) --FLASH-- INT. SANTA ROSA MENTAL INSTITUTE. DAY.

 Hurley is sitting there in his robe in the visitor's room as his mother walks in and she sits
down across from him. She says:

Carmen:

Hi, Hugo... I brought you some more of your things... (she starts to choke up).

Hurley:

You didn't have to do this... I didn't want you to have to come back here.

Carmen:

Oh, Hugo... what happened on that island?! Why did you have to come back here?!

Hurley looks down.

Hurley:

I'm seeing them again...

Carmen:

Who? Not José, I hope... you have to let that go, Hugo... that wasn't your fault.

Hurley:

No, not José.

Carmen:

That old doctor man? Oh... Hugo... he's not real...

Hurley:

No, ma... my friend Charlie.

Carmen:

The one who died on the island?

Hurley:

Yeah.

Carmen:

It's not your fault there either, Hugo...

Hurley:

Ma, he says I need to go back... to help him.

Carmen:
 No, Hugo... don't be silly. You belong here, with me and your father and Diego...

Hurley looks up and sitting across the room is Charlie! Charlie says:

Charlie:

No, you have to go back, Hugo... they need you.

Hugo looks up at his mom and has a tear streaming down his face. He looks at his mom.

Hurley:

I have to, I have to help them... I didn't help José, but I can help them...

Carmen breaks up and begins crying. We see her reach down into her bag where her
flask is, that we later see her with when she visits Jack at the bar in 5.15. She pulls out her
rosary beads and hands them to Hurley. She stands up and turns as if she can't take any
more of this. She walks out of the room crying the entire way. The flash sound begins...

28) ---END OF FLASH--- EXT. JUNGLE. HYDRA. NIGHT.

Hurley looks back at Deater and instead of Deater, Hurley sees Christian.

Hurley:

It's your fault I hurt my mom! It's your fault I felt so guilty about José and Charlie! Worst of
all, worst of all you used José!!

Hurley looks back at Walt and instead of Walt he sees young José. He looks back at
Deater, but sees Christian again.

Hurley:

Well you're done hurting me and the people I love!!

Hurley points the gun at Deater and pulls the trigger. CLICK CLICK CLICK. The gun
is empty. Deater raises his gun and Hurley looks at his. Hurley throws his gun down and he
charges towards Deater, who is now positioned standing in front of the cliff! Hurley runs full
force at Deater and directly into him as they hit each-other and fall backwards!!! Hurley and
Deater fly through the air and as Hurley has Deater in his grasp he says:

Hurley:

You're done hurting me!

Deater and Hurley fly over the edge of the cliff!!!! The camera cuts back to Walt who
rushes up to the edge and looks over. Christian is standing there with a smug smile on his
face.

Walt:

Hurley!!!! NO!!!!
 The camera cuts back and we see nothing. Just darkness. The music cuts to silence and
the camera holds on the darkness when abruptly the camera cuts to:
