Chairpersons Report Susan noted that since the last two months were summer vacation there would be no chairpersons report Guest Speaker Peter Michaud the chair of the Rural Community Committee told us that the progress of the committee had not stopped and that he and Pierre Beaudoin had been working with Doug Pond to see what is needed for the feasibility study. The draft presentation is scheduled for public meetings on Oct.17 & Oct 18 at Hanwell and Mazerolle respectively. It will be an open house style meeting regarding where we are and what we are doing. If the feasibility study goes through it would put a public vote around May 2012. After contacting the ministers office to see what status Rural Communities are at, it was encouraged that the committee continue. The presentation is now being updated with 2011 figures and it was again noted that we would need a petition of 25 signatures to go to the feasibility study. It was noted that of the 200 properties in the Yoho Lake area only about 80 are permanent residence and that maybe a separate meeting would be good to have there. Business Arising from the minutes 1. Website: Things have been added to the website and it is now not looking too bad. 2. Phone Messages No mail at the post office box but mail received directly to Susan was from the Wildlife Plant Conservation Council about plants in the area. Phone messages had not been checked over the summer and there were 15 messages that would now be checked and dealt with. 3. Recreation It was noted that Louise Holt chair of the Brookdale Rec Assoc. has moved away, hence the no response to our requests and no one seems to know who took over. The water pump for the rink has been left for whom ever wants to continue. We will need to get an update from someone! City Rec. Committee will meet again in the fall. Holly received a call from Wayne Tallon & Toni Hayes to sit on the board for the York Arena outcome but declined. 4. Newsletter The Hanwell Community Dev. Assoc. has established a communications committee that has been working on a draft newsletter, however there needs to be clarification on how to proceed. Susan has sent out the hierarchy of the roles of each committee in the community. It has been suggested that our two groups have a meeting to clarify each groups role. Susan will discuss with the HCDA Board to set a meeting date. 5. Postal Services Tabled until next meeting 6. Signage Tabled until next meeting New Business
