Londonderry Shopping Center Library Every 2nd Saturday (April 14, 28; May 12, 26) 10:00 am - 11:30 am Cost: FREE
There are free stamps to help kids get started. At each meeting there is a draw for stamps, a short program, and trading time. You can collect by country or by your favourite subject (animals, birds, hot air balloons, flags, - your choice).

Write an article on items of concern in the neighborhood, parenting advice, pet advice, crime prevention, etc. We welcome anyone who would like to write a regular article for the newsletter. Advertise your business with a business card or an ad of 1/4 page to a full page. Call Irene at 780-633-7289 with your contributions. Please submit your article or ad by the 15th of the month in order to have it included in the next months newsletter. Non-profit organization advertising or news articles are free.

Grants Director Needed


Bannerman Community League will be losing their Grants Director this summer and is therefore in need of a replacement. If you are interested, now would be a great time to let the community league executive know. Start now and learn the job by shadowing the current grants director.

The job is easier than the title might indicate. Duties include:

Submitting completed grant application forms (most are fill-in-the-blank forms, sometimes on-line) Submitting receipts and verification paperwork after the grant has been spent.

Baby Sitting Course


Learn what it takes to be a great babysitter! This well rounded course covers basic child care, first aid, safety, and introduces participants to the importance of play in a childs life. Are you 11 to 17 yrs old? The course will be taught by a qualified instructor and will include role playing, brainstorming, and hands-on exercises. Certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of the program. Cost: $55.00 Participants are encouraged to provide their own snacks, pens & paper. Free Manual Wheelchairs Available


The Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona is planning to sponsor wheelchairs to give away free to individuals who would qualify. The wheelchair would belong to the members/clients and maintenance would be their responsibility. Please help us spread the word about this program! Clareview Community Recreation Centre and Library


Excitement is building around the Clareview Community Recreation Centre and Clareview Library that also includes a High School Completion Centre, multicultural centre and outdoor park features. Construction began in October with the Centre planned to open early 2014. Construction now underway is creating a community hub where people of all ages and abilities can gather to learn, exercise, relax, meet and have fun. This collaborative project features a unique partnership between the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Public Libraries, and Edmonton Catholic Schools. Clareview Community Recreation Centre There is something for everyone! You can swim, dive and play in the aquatic centre, workout in the large fitness area, take classes in the aerobic fitness studios or walk around the indoor track. The gym has playing space for basketball, badminton, volleyball, martial arts and other activities. Drop-in activities and registered programs for children, youth and adults are to be offered in a variety of multipurpose rooms. The twin arenas will be renewed for all types of skating activities and sports. Clareview Community Recreation Centre will be a place to be active, play and be healthy! Multicultural Centre This centre supports the participation of new immigrant individuals and groups in improving access to space and promotes intercultural awareness and understanding. Edmonton Catholic Schools High School Completion Centre Edmonton Catholic Schools in partnership with the City of Edmonton is building a 30,000-square-foot High School Completion Centre with room for 600 students. This one-of-a-kind campus provides adult students with a comfortable environment in which to learn and feel at ease among their peers; appropriate for students who are beyond the age of a typical high school student. Clareview Public Library What an invaluable resource to community recreation centre participants and students; a public library right at their doorstep! The 18,000-square-feet Edmonton Public Library will offer:

Neighbourhood Engagement Strategy Grant 2012


Engage your neighbourhood Think about all the great resources, connections and people in your neighbourhood. Think about a really great way to make the community better, share it with someone and come up with a plan together. Share and discuss your ideas with others. Form a group of at least six other people who share a great idea and are willing to work together and with others to make it happen. Need some ideas?
