Whats New in Version 6.4?

We are pleased to announce the general availability of the IBM Optim Solution, Version 6.4, providing enterprise data management capabilities for custom and packaged applications. This new release includes the following features and enhancements:

Web addresses or URLs and Internet protocol (IP) addresses Any type of account numbers, medical record numbers, health plan and beneficiary identifiers, certificate or license numbers, vehicle identifiers, employee identification numbers and payment card numbers

A new Shuffle function adds to Optims wide variety of proven data masking functions and transformation techniques to support data privacy compliance initiatives. Expanded support for Hitachi Data Systems Content Archive Platform (HCAP) using Optims new Retention (Litigation) Hold feature to improve the management of electronic records for e-discovery and data retention compliance. Expanded support for EMC Centera content addressed storage is made possible using Optims new Retention (Litigation) Hold feature to improve the management of electronic records for e-discovery and data retention compliance. New cross-platform support for long object names makes it possible for Archive Files and Extract Files created using the IBM Optim Solution for z/OS to be used in IBM Optim Solution,V6.4. In addition, support for long object names improves Optims capabilities for managing the names of relationship constraints.

Enhanced Electronic Records Management to Support E-Discovery and Retention Compliance Expanded Support for Hitachi Data Systems Archivas Storage Optim V6.4 provides a new Retention (Litigation) Hold feature that expands support for Hitachi Data Systems Content Archive Platform (HCAP). This feature prevents enabling the capability to delete archived electronic records that are subject to investigation, subpoena or injury, for the purpose of litigation hold, regardless of the specified data retention dates. Expanded Support for EMC Centera Content Addressed Storage Optim V6.4 also provides the Retention (Litigation) Hold feature to support applications that manage electronic records stored on EMC Centera. This feature prevents enabling the capability to delete archived electronic records that are subject to investigation, subpoena or injury, for the purpose of litigation hold, regardless of the specified data retention dates. Enhanced Cross-Platform Support Optim V6.4 improves capabilities for sharing Archive Files and Extract files. New cross-platform support for long object names makes it possible for Archive Files and Extract Files created using the The IBM Optim Solution for z/OS to be used in Optim V6.4. In addition, this support for long object names improves Optims capabilities for managing the names of relationship constraints.

Generally Available Features and Enhancements

Expanded Support for Data Privacy Initiatives Optims new Shuffle function provides the ultimate random data masking technique. This function redistributes data from a specified column among a specified number of rows and optionally enforces uniqueness across shuffles. Users can apply the Shuffle function to virtually any type of data and it can be easily used to mask:

First names, last names, or both first and last names Address information, including street address, city, county, and postal or zip code Date driven information, such as birth and death dates or admission and discharge dates Device identifiers and/or serial numbers 1

Expanded and Discontinued Database Support

Optim supports the leading database management systems (Oracle, DB2, UDB, Sybase, SQL Server and Informix). IBM Optim solutions are continually updated to support database and platform feature upgrades delivered in each new vendor release. Version 6.4 provides support for the following:

Product Sunset Information

To ensure that we continue to focus our efforts on the most current and compelling client requirements, IBM will from time to time sunset or discontinue support for older versions of our Optim solutions as newer versions are released. With this GA release of the IBM Optim Solution, V6.4, we will sunset Archive for Servers V5.3, V5.3a, V6.0 and V6.1. In addition, the IBM Optim Solution, V6.2 is sunset as of January 1, 2008.
