In the 1990s, industry pioneer Xplore Technologies began developing early implementations of rugged pen tablet PCs for workers in warehousing, transportation, utilities, and first responders (police, fire, and EMS). Xplore Technologies has since spent more than a decade on research, development and
product generation improvements. Among its industry firsts Xplore was the first company to incorporate dual-mode inputs with active pen and finger touch capabilities. Xplore also pioneered the best outdoor-readable display and wLAN wireless solutions. Xplores signature iX104 computers have consistently been recognized for their ruggedness, versatility and best-in-class technologies, receiving industry recognitions from Pen Computing (Best Rugged Slate-Style Tablet PC), Tablet PC2 (Editors Choice Award for the AllVue Screen) and Laptop Magazine. In 2002, the company joined forces with Microsoft when it introduced its Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. Xplore continues to partner with Microsoft in long-term planning for the next-generation tablet computing needs of their customers.
