There is nothing that we can do to cleanse our sin. Our good works are nothing but filthy rags

compared with our sin. No amount of good deeds can remove even ONE sin. Isaiah 64:6. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Punishment for Sin is Eternal death in Hell And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 1:22,23) Romans 6:23. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 2 Thessalonians 1:8. In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments... Revelation 14:11. John 3:16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Therefore doth my Father love me [Jesus], because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. (John 10:17,18) God's Offer of Forgiveness and Eternal Life God offers you His gift of forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus. Isaiah 1:18. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 2 Peter 3:9. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward [toward us], not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. John 8:12. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Faith vs Good Works You cannot earn salvation. It is the free gift of God. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9) Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. (Rom 3:27,28) 1 John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life [in Heaven], and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
