Blessed are you God and we praise you for the gift of freedom. This day, we pray especially for government leaders the men and women elected or appointed as the stewards of our rights and the overseers of our needs. Grant them true discernment so that they may never stray from the duties with which we citizens have entrusted themto uphold our religious freedom and care for our well-being. Give us the power to touch with your truth everything and everyone we meet. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION
Registration for fall sessions is now in progress. All Catholic children attending public schools should attend religious education classes so that they may be well grounded in our faith and be prepared for the sacraments. Religious Education registration packets for September 2012/2013 have been mailed to families of current students. Additional packets and information will be available in the rectory for families with children new to the program. You may either mail or drop off your completed forms to the Catechetical Office in the rectory. By registering before June 15, it enables us to plan class sizes and recruit the needed number of catechists.

You will also be given last minute information regarding the day.

Registration for First Grade

Dont delay registering your first grader! Our First Reconciliation and Eucharist preparation begins in grade one. Children generally receive First Reconciliation in the second grade and First Communion in the third grade after they have experienced full preparation during those three years. Call or visit the Catechetical Office with any questions (908-464-8156). The Catechetical Office is located in the Rectory and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. Other hours are available by appointment.

All Operation Starfish donations should be converted to a check made payable to Our Lady of Peace and turned in as soon as possible.
Last year we partnered with Food for the Poor to make a difference for the Filias family in Grand Boulage, Haiti. Our parish collected over $4,200, providing them with a new home and other necessities. This year, we need your help to reach or exceed our goal of $4,200 to provide for another destitute family in Haiti. Please convert all cash donations to a check made payable to Our Lady of Peace. You may mail or drop off your donation to the rectory or place it in the Sunday collection basket. Write Operation Starfish in the note box section of your check. Thank you for making a difference!

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED BECOMING A CATECHIST?

One of the most rewarding things you can do is share your faith with the youth of our parish as a catechist in our Religious Education Program. The requirements are simple: a love for God, love for our Catholic faith, and a willingness to spread the news of Jesus Christ. Religious Education sessions for children in grades K 6 are held on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:45 pm. Sessions for grades 7 & 8 are on Wednesday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Call the Parish Catechetical Office at (908)4648156 for details. By sharing your faith, you grow in faith!

Election 2012 A War of Ideologies

Which Vision of America Will We Leave to Our Children and Grandchildren
Presented by Nick Rago

Join us on Thursday Evening, April 19, 2012 at 7:30 PM Our Lady of Peace Parish Hall Hosted by Knights of Columbus Summit Council 783
Serving the Parishes of St. Teresa Our Lady of Peace Little Flower

What is happening in America? Our First Amendment Rights of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion are under attack. Our childrens futures have been mortgaged by unconscionable spending. The Constitution, as well as centuries of Judeo-Christian traditions and mores, have been cast aside in the name of political correctness by a progressive secularism that is eroding the very foundations of our republic. Members of both political parties have abdicated their roles as stewards of the American Dream. The salvation of this nation, a nation founded under a Divine Providence to forever be a beacon of hope for the rest of the world, rests squarely on the shoulders of you, the citizens of this country. If we truly believe that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed then we must accept the responsibility to engage ourselves in the political issues facing us as a nation.

The legitimate separation of Church and State cannot be taken to mean that the Church must be silent on certain issues, nor that the State may choose not to engage, or be engaged by, the voices of committed believers in determining the values which will shape the future of the nation. Pope Benedict XVI "Responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation." USCCB We have been taught, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesars, and to God the things that are Gods. But when Caesar condones the murder of innocent children, when Caesar strips the citizens of every vestige of self respect, condemning generation after generation to believe that only Caesar can care for them, depriving them of the very human dignity that comes with self reliance and personal responsibility, and takes their very freedom in return for his largesse, and when Caesar calls for people of faith to abandon their consciences and bow down at the altar of bureaucratic secularism, then it is time when we as a people of faith, when we as citizens, must rise up and proclaim No, Caesar, this will not stand! Nick Rago

You are Invited to a Centering Prayer Workshop

Do you seek the still, small voice of God? This workshop will help you to become more open to the God within and hear with the ear of the heart.
During the parish mission at Our Lady of Peace, Fr. Carl Arico introduced us to Centering Prayer, a silent prayer which opens us to receive Gods gift of contemplative prayer. We live in a fast-paced, hectic and, at times, frenetic world; sometimes it is a challenge to be silent. Through the Psalmist, God invites us: Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). We want to Be Still. How can we learn to be still? One of the ways is Centering Prayer. Come to the workshop to learn the method of Centering Prayer, to experience Centering Prayer and to have an opportunity to ask questions about the conceptual background of Centering Prayer. Anyone desiring to deepen his or her prayer life will benefit from this Centering Prayer workshop. It is for those who are new to Centering Prayer and for those who wish to renew their practice.

When: Saturday, May 5, 2012 - 9:15 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. Registration begins at 8:45 A.M.
