Apogee disposable flash columns are machine packed with ultra pure silica gel. The proprietary user friendly design eliminates the need for cumbersome, expensive adapters, valves, or other accessories, thus providing organic chemists fast and easy purifications with high resolution and reproducibility. 25-40m, 60 and 40-63m, 60 Ultrapure silica gel used as a standard packing sorbent, features a narrow particle size distribution, low level of fines and low trace metal content, neutral pH, tightly controlled water content and high surface area, providing scientists the desired reproducible experimental results. Proprietary dry packing technology produces uniform packed sorbent bed with less channeling effect, tighter band and symmetrical peak definition, resulting better resolution and reproducibility. Standard Luer-Lock end fittings enable quick easy connection to commercially available flash systems on the market. Innovative column design offers safety and flexibility with leak free performance.

Reduce Costs
The separation and purification costs in time, apparatus and materials is significantly reduced when compared to traditional flash chromatography.
Reduce Risks
Pre-packed and disposable Apogee columns greatly reduce the risks to human health and the environment.

The optimal solvent composition can be achieved by using different binary eluent which may possess the same solvent strength, but have deferent Rf value for the same pair of compounds. After the optimal solvent composition is found the solvent strength has to be optimized. The optimal eluent strength is established by adjusting the different ratio to keep the Rf value in the range of 0.15 to 0.4.
The band tailng can be improved by adding more polar solvent into the solvent system or slightly changing the pH of the system, until the spots on the TLC plate become flat shaped and are no longer strip shaped.
The column selection can be determined by the ratio of Rf value of border upon compounds. Smaller Rf with larger ratio of Rf value means a short column of larger sample size is preferred.
