April 12, 2012

I.

Call to Order

Meeting was called to order at 6:05 PM. Eleven members were in attendance, including all board members.

II.

Executive Committee Reports

a. President Angela Henthorn thanked all present for attending and called attention to the ballots for the 2012/13 P.A.C. board election with Mr. Morris. All present voted during a short recess. b. Vice-President Mike Sudia thanked his fellow executive board members for a job well done this year. He asked Mr. Morris for a follow-up of the schools security team meeting. Mr. Morris shared many new security updates that the school is now following. It may be a good idea to ask for a parent volunteer to assist with Bookmobile next year. c. Secretary Laurel Croft asked that Marchs minutes be read and approved. Mrs. Ranier motioned to accept, Mrs. Kozak seconded. d. Treasurer Beth Metheney shared that we have received a check from the Acme Community Cash Back program in the amount of $1,434.13 which has not yet been deposited, and thanked the Mr. and Mrs. Frantz for running the program. She asked that the March treasurers report be read and approved. Mrs. Dowling motioned to accept, Mrs. Kozak seconded.

III.

Principals Report

Mr. Morris shared a reminder from Superintendent David Dunn to be mindful of taking pictures of your own children with other students (at class parties, etc) and sharing them on the internet.

IV.

Committee Reports

a. P.A.C. Election Mr. Morris and the election committee exited to count the votes. Upon returning he announced the results-- The 2012/13 P.A.C. Board is: President, Angela Henthorn; Vice President, Laurel Croft; Secretary, vacant (both Dana Krizo and David Frantz were written in on ballots); Treasurer, vacant. The new (future) executive board may appoint to the vacant seats as they see fit. b. Talent Show The Talent Show will take place on 4/21 from 1 3 PM in the Primary Gym. Weve got 20+ acts set to perform. Participating acts may perform an encore performance at a Primary Idol event at Montrose Barnes & Noble the next day (4/22). Barnes & Noble will also be running a Norton Primary fundraiser on Apr 21 22; a percentage of all sales will be deposited into the principals fund. c. Book Fair A Buy One, Get One FREE Scholastic Book Fair is planned for May 10 12 at Norton Primary. Will set up after school on Wed, 5/9. Fair will be open 9 AM 3:45 PM on Thurs and Fri, will also be open from 1 3 PM during the Luau. Volunteers are needed! d. Family Fun Luau A Luau is planned for Sat, 5/12 from 1 3 PM.

V.

Old Business

a. Bylaws (skipped over for time beingrevisions reviewed via Power Point presentation later in meeting) b. Right to Read Week A Luau themed Right to Read Week taking place the week of May 7 - 11. Volunteers are needed on Mon (5/7) morning to assist with set-up. c. Field Day May 18. P.A.C. provides all students with a Field Day tee, popsicles and drinks. Mrs. Vance plans the events, but needs many volunteers.

VI.

New Business

a. OAA Testing P.A.C. will again be providing a hot breakfast to all testing 3rd and 4th grade students on Tues, 4/24 and Thurs, 4/26. Volunteers are needed to assist with serving, a form will be sent home shortly.

VII.

Open Discussion

Mrs. Ranier asked about scholarships. Theyre being taken care of, P.A.C. is receiving applications. P.A.C. will award two scholarships, each totaling $250. Mrs. Dowling questioned funding for 1st grade binders; P.A.C. will provide. Petra Frantz questioned how much of our current P.A.C. funds will be carried over to next year. We are unable to answer at this time. P.A.C. lost its non-profit status; we are in the process of becoming a non-profit organization again. Angela is currently working with a lawyer concerning this matter. (V.

Old Business

a. Bylaws revisited) Angela presented for approval via Power Point proposed changes to our current Bylaws through Article VI, section 5(a), and will finish at our next meeting.

VIII. Upcoming Dates / Close of Business


Meeting adjourned at 7:10 PM.

A motion to adjourn was made by Petra Frantz, seconded by Mrs. Dowling.
