The International Maritime Organization, IMO, recognize (Resolution MSC.128(75)) that many operational bridgerelated marine accidents could be averted if an effective and operational Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) were fitted to vessels.

The base for our BNWAS is the DMA-105. It includes a Touch Screen, a PLC, a Redundancy Module, a Communication Cable and a Buzzer
The DMA-105 can, as standard, be connected to 10 external navigational equipment such as Radar, GPS, Echo Sounder etc. and will also be connected to the vessels VDR.

The Master can set the mode to on, off or auto and any dormant time between 3-12 minutes and the settings will be locked to prevent unauthorized changes. To unlock it, a PIN is needed.
The selection of the first back-up officer will also be done from the touch screen. This can be changed by The OOW.

When the System is running without interference, the OOW will see the clock count down, the Reset- and Emergency Call buttons, the button for the selection of the back-up officer, the Mode, the button for External Navigational Equipment (if activated) and a Dimmer Switch. When the count down comes to an end, the reset button will start flashing red before the buzzer is activated. If the External Navigational Equipment is activated, any alarm will show on the screen. If a power failure is occurring, a red flashing button will show on the screen.

Depending on the size of the vessel, a number of Alarm Units with flashing light, DMA-107, will be needed. They are mounted in the cabins of the Back-up Officers and in the Crew areas.

Very common is also that the bridge is equipped with some extra Reset Units, DMA-106P (panel), DMA106B (on the wall) and/or DMA-106W (water proof) if fitted on the outside wings.

An alternative to the Reset Units are Motion Sensors, DMA-119. The sensors are of Passive IR (PIR) type.
