Why We Need You

Do the Knight Thing

We need YOU to be a student advocate for the Knights Helping Knights Pantry.
As a result of the Pantrys direct affiliation with the UCF Foundation: The KHK Pantry itself or anyone that directly represents the program cannot solicit donations for the Pantry. The Pantry is not able to host its own fundraisers Send a Pantry representative to obtain donations or sponsorships. As a student advocate, your direct affiliation with the Pantry dissolves, since you are advocating for the cause, not representing it. As a student advocate, you are able to: Obtain monetary donations that are used to purchase food and other essential items. Ask local businesses for their support Host fundraisers Send out donation letters

Who We Are
The Knights Helping Knights Pantry provides food, clothing, and other essentials to UCF students free of cost. Since its foundation in Spring 2009, the pantry has provided students with over 25,000 pounds of food. The pantry was moved to its current location, in Ferrell Commons, in 2010. Canned food and monetary donations are made to the pantry by third party groups. The pantry continues to expand as more students are becoming aware of and utilizing its services.

Methods of a successful fundraiser

Are you a part of Greek life, a student organization, club, faith group, or ROTC detachment at UCF? Getting Set Up: Your first step is to get in contact with the Pantrys outreach director. Next, set up an organizational structure with your finance director or another person as the main point of contact. Creating a Goal: You will need to set up an account with a local bank in order to monitor donations and ensure accountability. In order to best complete a task you have to have a goal. Set a realistic timeframe and fundraising amount. This will vary depending on how many people are involved; you may want to get in touch with other fraternities, sororities, flights, platoons, Army or Air Force detachments, faith groups, and other clubs in order to incorporate an element of healthy competition!

How will you Fundraise? You will need to come up with a list of possible methods for raising funds. This can be done through bake sales, lump sum donations, money in a donation jar, asking your parents for donations, going out to local businesses and asking if they would like to make a donation, etc. Dont forget to remind all participants that donations are tax deductible. This is an area that will largely be left up to you. Delivering Funds: One of the final parts of the fundraiser will be the collection of funds and the delivery of them to the Pantry. It is imperative that this is done efficiently in order to prevent waste and theft. Once the money is collected and counted you will need to submit it by check. This can be done in person at the Pantry, or online at knightspantry.org/donate. Checks will be addressed to the Outreach Director
