edu January 24, 2012 Chris Morningstar Principal Graham Hill Elementary School 5149 S. Graham St. Seattle, WA 98118 Dear Potential Employer, I noticed a job opening at your elementary school for a position as a second grade teacher on Monster.com. It would be an honor to work in this school because of its high academic standards and success. I have lived near this school for many years and have always noticed how tied in with the community the school is and that is a very valuable asset for an elementary school to have. I am interested in applying for this open position and feel that I am a valuable candidate because I posses the qualities that are crucial for a teacher to have. Being able to teach the curriculum effectively and positively while at the same time allowing students to actually enjoy the learning material is very important to me. Students as well as staff are able to approach me any time they need to. I am also very organized and patient, which are very important skills for a teacher to posses. I recently obtained my bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho where I took classes in teaching curriculum and instruction as well as special education courses that will make me very valuable in a classroom that has multiple students who require IEPs. During my senior year I did an internship in Boise, Idaho at Chief Joseph Elementary working in a second grade classroom. I acquired many different teaching skills and had hands-on experience working with elementary aged children. I am currently working towards getting my masters in special education at University of Washington. Volunteer work has always been a big part of my life whether it was independent or through 4-H. As a child I was involved in many different 4-H projects and had over 100 hours of volunteer time doing different things including working at the animal shelter and donating to the food bank. Being a part of 4-H as a teen taught me a great deal of responsibility. As a senior in high school I took an internship class working at an elementary school where I volunteered for 150 hours over the course of a semester. Having the opportunity to do this allowed me to gain experience working with children in small and large groups as well as learn what it is like to be a teacher. My skills and experience make me a great candidate for the position being offered at your school. I am prepared for the challenges that come along with teaching and I would be honored if I were considered for a position at Graham Hill Elementary. Thank

you for taking the time to review my resume, I will be following up with you next week. Sincerely, Jennifer Gibson
