The 5 Ws of EVENT PLANNING

Che ck List :

What are you planning to do? Briefly describe the event/ activity.

Every year, O.S.A.I.D. has our Prom Awareness week. This year, we have put together a few events that will promote safe driving before or after prom. We will go to Markville Mall and hand a letter to all tuxedo stores in the mall, asking to put taxi numbers in each of the tuxedos they sell. Whenever a student buys a suit for prom, they will always receive taxi numbers, and a reminder to drive safe on prom. This also gets our message out to a wider variety of people, not only those who are going to prom. We are spreading our message of not driving impaired to our local community. During the week of prom, O.S.A.I.D members will do homeroom announcements to all grade 12 homerooms and provide the students with a MADD pin, that they will wear the week of prom. The pin symbolizes the grade 12s promise and pledge to not drink and drive, and to be responsible. O.S.A.I.D is proposing to have a MADD Damages presentation for prom awareness. The MADD Damages presentation is a 45-minute video, with a MADD representative, to bring to our attention the consequences of impaired driving. The presentation will be for grade 11s and 12s only. The presentation is a good way to spread the message to our school, being not to drive impaired. On the night of prom, O.S.A.I.D would like to have a table in the lobby area with a few O.S.A.I.D members and our teacher representatives. At the end of prom, these members will hand out MADD ribbons as bracelets to the girls, and taxi numbers to the guys. They will be there as a final reminder to drive safe for the night and for the weekend.

Provide maps / diagrams / layout When (event dates) On Monday June 4, we will be handing out the MADD pins to the grade 12s so they can wear them all week. This will start off our Prom Awareness week, letting all the grade 12s know that we need to promote responsible driving during prom time. On Tuesday June 5, the MADD Damages presentation will be held. This presentation will be for all grade 11 and 12 students. It will be held at 1:30pm, during fourth period. The presentation will be only 45-minutes long. We will go to Markville Mall and ask tuxedo stores to put taxi numbers in suit pockets a couple months before prom. We will do this during the month of may, when guys are starting to buy tuxedos for prom and graduation. On the night of prom, June 8, is when our O.S.A.I.D members and teacher advisors will have a table at prom to remind students not to drink and drive while leaving prom. The MADD Damages presentation will take place in the gym at 1:30pm.
