Timeline of Events
Visit from Dennis Schrumpf / Matt Schaeffer, ConocoPhillips Wood River in January 2008 Request of improvements with alignment of driver to pump. Request for elimination of dowel pinning or reworking procedures. Request was specific to Sundyne OH3 Bearing Box Pump (Sundyne LMV-80x Series). LMV 80x pumps shown in earlier slides are API OH5 designs with the impeller mounted directly on the driver shaft. Add a bearing housing (bearing box) to convert to OH3 design.

Bearing Box Change

Request for improvement well timed with Bearing Box redesign.

Sundyne Bearing Housing for OH3 Design

Overview of Bearing Box Changes

API OH3 Compliant Back-to-Back Angular Contact Bearings More Modular
Uses same coupling housing as Gear-Driven Units

Coupling Housing Change

Request for Improved Alignment Well Timed:
New Design Being Implemented

Previous Design: Fabricated from Steel

New Design: Cast Aluminum

Overview of Coupling Housing Changes

One Piece Casting
All configurations with 3 castings Ability to hold high tolerances

Coupling Alignment Fix

Change was Implemented Across All Sundyne LMx Products
Direct Drive and Gear Driven Fix was considered a global product improvement.

Preliminary Results
To Date:
Data taken on 4 sets of hardware, 16 combinations. Data as Follows:
TIR Conc TIR Ang Avg 0.007125 0.002625 Max 0.014 0.005 Min 0.0015 0.0005

Preliminary Results
To Date:
One housing appears to give consistently bad values. Inspection being performed to determine cause. Without housing, data as follows:
TIR Conc TIR Ang Avg 0.005542 0.002417 Max 0.011 0.005 Min 0.0015 0.0005

Preliminary Results
Sundyne feels confident it can achieve:
TIR Conc. Avg. 0.005 Max 0.010 TIR Ang. 0.003 0.005

Future Plans:
Evaluate Per PN 41.25-52 30 units to see actual results Revise, if necessary, assumptions and design to achieve goal
