How to become a business analyst There is no defined way to become a BA. Generally companies hire a person with strong analytical skills and technical background with or without an MBA degree. A BA has to often overlap into the roles of project manager and consultant. The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) through its CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) program provides a certification program for business analysts, as well as a body of knowledge (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge, BABOK) for the field.
