| Extensions to Half & Full Day, by agreement IDR 50,000 pp per hour
Guided treks, fast treks and trail runs along footpaths up into the remote hills and farms to the east behind Sentul, only one hour 15 minutes drive from Jakarta. The scenic trek and trail run circuits range from 2 hours (trek time), all the way up to 8 hours for those who want something much more challenging. Depending on conditions on the day and how everyone feels, we can recommend many different routes with different features and challenges. Most routes will contour up a couple of hills, aiming for a circuit walk to take in one the many scenic ridges in the area. The great thing about Sentul at Karang Tengah is that there is no chance of running out of cool routes to do, even if you come every weekend. We have been exploring the area for several years, and we continue to find new exciting routes which we can offer to families and to adults for more challenging hill treks and trail runs. Coming along on a Hill Trek or two provides the perfect preparation for undertaking a more challenging trek, such as climbing any number of spectacular volcanoes that Indonesia has to offer. idGuides specialises in arranging and leading treks, mountain ascents and expeditions in Indonesia. If you are keen on trekking fast for fitness, for example, let us know thatyou are interested in a FastTrek. There will be minimal chat, maximum speed, covering longer distances than a hill trek. Trail running in the Sentul hills is a great way to get out of Jakarta and run free in cleaner air, with no stop lights or cars to contend with. You can actually remember why you love running! The area is an excellent training ground for adventure race training, for hill training, and for simply getting in those miles over varied terrain you need to improve muscular strength and endurance. On a trail run we usually combine running, jogging and fast trekking, according to the terrain. idGuides can also help you / your team to improve adventure racing skills and techniques, such as navigation, teamwork, river crossings, etc. No need to put off those adventure race ambitions til the next posting! To register, register online or by email with idGuides at least 24 hours before you want to go, to exchange contact details, and to receive updates or any specific information you may require.

6. What to expect on the Trek / Trail Run Both the half day and the full day will mostly follow paths used by farmers heading to their hill farms. We have many route options to choose from, depending on the group, conditions, and what you wish to get out of your trek or trail run. Most routes aim to be circuits, taking in a ridge and contouring a valley, with some village life in between. There are also options for point-to-point routes, which will require one day's notice for planning, so as to arrange drivers to pick up the group at a different location at the end of the trek. For full day treks and trail runs, the middle part of the day will be reasonably remote, in that there are no warungs or shops to buy water, for example. Best to take everything you need in your pack for the day. Some routes require us to cross rivers or streams, either by bridge or in the water. All river and stream crossings will only occur if conditions allow, in a systematic and standardised river crossing formation, and whether we as a group choose to go on a trek route which requires crossings. We do not cross rivers if there is the slightest chance of less than ideal conditions.

7. Safety, Training & Medical Kits Our priority at all times is your safety during your walk, trek or run. We take time to assess any hazards ahead of each excursion, and take action to reduce the risks associated. We take time to get to know you and choose the routes to suit our assessment of conditions and capability of the group. On all walks or treks, a minimum of two idGuides will accompany; usually one national idGuide and one local idGuide. IdGuides' policy is to be at all times actively engaged in managing a trek group, but we can be more or less hands-on depending on the situation, capability and wishes of the group. All national idGuides have achieved the idGuides Mountain Leader Certificate (MLC), an 11-day practical course developed and run by idGuides founder, Krystyna Krassowska (KK) to train Indonesian mountain and expedition leaders to basic standard befitting Indonesian conditions. The course focuses on improving communication, technical skills, systems and standards in mountain and expedition leadership, in accordance standards and procedures of the UK Mountain Leadership Training Scheme, modified to suit conditions on Indonesian mountains and in Indonesian jungles. At least one of the idGuides in each walk / trek / trail run group has achieved the SOS First Aid Training Certificate (Level Two). All idGuides Walks, Treks and Trail Runs always carry Medical Kits, containing basic medication (Visine, paracetamol / aspirin / ibuprofen), anti-histamines, etc), antiseptics, wound dressings, support bandages and flexible splints in junior and adult sizes. We will ask each adult to sign a Participant Agreement (also on behalf of minors for which they are responsible), before starting the walk / trek / trail run. Please read the sample Agreement on the final page of this brief before coming along on the walk or trek. We will have group copy of the Agreement for you to skim through and sign at the breifing before the trek starts.
