Rubric Case Study Strategy (30 points)

Date: ___________ Names: __________________, __________________, _____________________ Please be creative in your case study strategy presentation. Make the activity/presentation interactive and engage all members of the class in discussion and interaction. You may include a PowerPoint (no more than 5 slides) or other multimedia presentation, small group or whole class hands-on activities, video clips, or any other methods of conveying the salient points of the strategy. Regardless of the presentation mode(s), be sure to make the activity is interactive with ample opportunity for discussions and interactions. Please make sure you do not just stand around during your time while students are discussing or involved in activities, be involved! Develop and present (or have class members develop and present) some type of activity summary. The following is the rubric that will be used to grade the case study strategy. 28 29 30 points Student is fully prepared for strategy. Student demonstrates mastery of strategy content Mode(s) of strategy is(are) very appropriate and effective for conveying strategy and content Discussion and/or activities focus on strategy, content, and case study and are effective in deepening understanding of salient points Written handouts are effective in reviewing key issues in the strategy More learner-centered than teacher-centered. Information from book chapters and proficiency levels extensively prevalent and/or used. Summary activity is excellent. Uses higher cognitive order questions (analysis, synthesis, and evaluation). 22 23 24 points Student is only partially prepared for strategy Student demonstrates partial understanding of strategy content Mode(s) of strategy only partially conveys strategy, and content Discussion and/or activities are only remotely related to strategy, content, and case study and only convey some understanding of salient points. Written handouts are unhelpful in reviewing key issues of strategy More teacher-centered than learner-centered. Information from book chapters and proficiency levels sporadically prevalent and/or used. Summary activity is appropriate. Sometimes uses higher cognitive order questions but relies on lower cognitive order questions. 25 26 27 points Student is prepared for strategy Student demonstrates understanding of strategy content Mode(s) of strategy is (are) adequate for conveying strategy and content Discussion and/or activities focus on strategy, content, and case study and facilitate understanding of salient points Written handouts are somewhat helpful in reviewing key issues in the strategy Learner-centered and teacher-centered (about equal) Information from book chapters and proficiency levels is prevalent and/or used. Summary activity is good. Uses higher order cognitive order questions and lower cognitive order questions equally. 19 20 21 points Student is not prepared for strategy and/or does not give one on assigned day. Student demonstrates little to no understanding of strategy content. Mode(s) of strategy inadequately conveys the strategy and content. Lack of discussion and/or activities about strategy, content, and case study and fail to convey salient points. Mainly teacher-centered. No handouts Information from book chapters and proficiency levels not prevalent and/or used. No summary activity. May use one or two higher cognitive order questions but relies extensively on lower cognitive order questions.
