Little Sprouts
1, 2, 3, 4, school has taught us so much more. 5, 6, 7, 8, summer sun just cant wait. 9, 10, 11, 12, look what we can do ourselves! With the year almost over, we can hardly believe the progress our youngest students have made. It has been so much fun to see them grow and learn throughout the year. Here are a few more things we will learn before the year is through: Week #1 - April 30th - May 4th - - Review Reviewing all of the Letters and Sounds we have learned, tracing our names, reading the book One Whale and practicing counting, matching pairs, and using our class parachute. Week #2 - May 7th - 11th - Travel the World Learning about the Letter W, reading the book Travel with Pops, writing our names, comparing and sorting items we take on vacation, graphing our favorite destination, and naming shapes and filling a pattern with shapes. Week #3 - May 14th - 18th - I Can Discover Learning about the Letters X, Y, and Z, identifying and matching sounds, read the book Grasshopper on the Road, observing and describing things around us, recalling missing items, and reciting the alphabet. Week #4 - May 21st - 25th - Last Week of School Reviewing all of the Letters and Sounds we have learned, writing our names, reading the story The Three Little Pigs and sequencing pictures from the story, and having our Teddy Bear Picnic.

he end of the school year is just around the corner! As we get ready for the summer sun, well be learning about many of the wonderful things summer brings, like warm weather, growing gardens, buzzing bees, and caterpillars changing into butterflies. Well perfect the skills weve learned this year, practice summer safety, and make a few more lasting memories. Kids Village Gives BackWe believe that each and every child has the potential to make a difference in the world. We teach children that it is never too early to start helping those around them. This month we have the opportunity to help children in Ecuador. A representative from Kids Village will be traveling to Ecuador to volunteer at an orphanage in need. Your family can help, too, by making donations to our Kids Village Gives Back fund throughout the month of May. We will match every dollar donated and all of the funds collected will be delivered directly to the orphanage this summer. We are excited to help children in other parts of the world and want everyone at Kids Village to participate in some way. Help your child think of ways to contribute and make a difference for someone in need. We will be introducing the fundraiser during a school assembly on May 1st and 2nd. More information will be sent via e-mail. Please take note of our final Parent Teacher Conference for this school year, held on May 3rd and 4th. We are anxious to share your childs progress with you as well as some of the wonderful experiences we have had with them. Our conferences will be an open house style. You are welcome to come on either May 3rd from 1:007:00pm or May 4th from 9:003:00pm. All of our teachers will be available during these times, so stop by when its convenient for you, no appointment necessary. There will be NO SCHOOL on both May 3rd and 4th. National Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up on May 7th11th. We are excited to take this opportunity to show our teachers how much we love them. Your child can be part of our Teacher Appreciation Week by simply writing a special note, drawing a picture, or making a homemade gift. It doesnt need to be something elaborate or expensive, just let your teachers know how much you love and appreciate them! Class graduations will be held the week of May 14th18th. Watch your e-mail for more detailed information about when your childs graduation ceremony is scheduled. We hope you can join us for this great celebration! Kids Village Spirit Week is May 21st25th. Start hunting now for your craziest hats, outfits, and hair-dos to wear during the last week of school. On Monday wear your silliest hair-do; on Tuesday wear sports gear; on Wednesday we want to see your best hat, and on Thursday and Friday wear your Kids Village t-shirts. The last week of school also brings our Teddy Bear Picnic, complete with our favorite books, stuffed animals, and of course plenty of yummy snacks. Watch for an e-mail with more information about your childs class picnic. Dont forget to turn in all of your home reading books before May 15th. Let us know if you have books that are lost or damaged so we can get them replaced. Also, our lost and found is overflowing! We plan to donate all unclaimed items to charity. So if your child is missing a jacket, sweater, hair clip, or lunch box, please come by and take a look.

Kitchen
We will use all of the things we have learned about using kitchen tools, stirring, measuring, and pouring to make some great recipes to finish up our last month of school.

Music
The children are so excited to perform for you during our Graduation Programs. They have worked hard to learn their songs and poems. We have been working on the poem I Will Be Kind too.

Social Studies
Throughout the year we have tried to learn how to control our actions and to think about others more carefully. This month we will learn about how we can help others and show that we care by doing service.

Science
The children will love participating in a few Science Experiments this month as we practice observing and describing the things we see. We will also learn about the Wolf for the Letter W, the X-Ray Fish for the Letter X, the Yak for Letter Y and the Zebra for Letter Z.

Art
The art a child creates is important to them and helps them feel confident. We have made some beautiful artwork this year. Here are the last few projects we will be making before summer arrives: Paper Plate Watermelon for Letter W, Mixed up X for Letter X, Yarn Art for Letter Y, and Zebra Masks for Letter Z.
