Kids Village Gives BackWe believe that each and every child has the potential to make a difference in the world. We teach children that it is never too early to start helping those around them. This month we have the opportunity to help children in Ecuador. A representative from Kids Village will be traveling to Ecuador to volunteer at an orphanage in need. Your family can help, too, by making donations to our Kids Village Gives Back fund throughout the month of May. We will match every dollar donated and all of the funds collected will be delivered directly to the orphanage this summer. We are excited to help children in other parts of the world and want everyone at Kids Village to participate in some way. Help your child think of ways to contribute and make a difference for someone in need. We will be introducing the fundraiser during a school assembly on May 1st and 2nd. More information will be sent via e-mail. Please take note of our final Parent Teacher Conference for this school year, held on May 3rd and 4th. We are anxious to share your childs progress with you as well as some of the wonderful experiences we have had with them. Our conferences will be an open house style. You are welcome to come on either May 3rd from 1:007:00pm or May 4th from 9:003:00pm. All of our teachers will be available during these times, so stop by when its convenient for you, no appointment necessary. There will be NO SCHOOL on both May 3rd and 4th. National Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up on May 7th11th. We are excited to take this opportunity to show our teachers how much we love them. Your child can be part of our Teacher Appreciation Week by simply writing a special note, drawing a picture, or making a homemade gift. It doesnt need to be something elaborate or expensive, just let your teachers know how much you love and appreciate them! Class graduations will be held the week of May 14th18th. Watch your e-mail for more detailed information about when your childs graduation ceremony is scheduled. We hope you can join us for this great celebration! Kids Village Spirit Week is May 21st25th. Start hunting now for your craziest hats, outfits, and hair-dos to wear during the last week of school. On Monday wear your silliest hair-do; on Tuesday wear sports gear; on Wednesday we want to see your best hat, and on Thursday and Friday wear your Kids Village t-shirts. The last week of school also brings our Teddy Bear Picnic, complete with our favorite books, stuffed animals, and of course plenty of yummy snacks. Watch for an e-mail with more information about your childs class picnic. Dont forget to turn in all of your home reading books before May 15th. Let us know if you have books that are lost or damaged so we can get them replaced. Also, our lost and found is overflowing! We plan to donate all unclaimed items to charity. So if your child is missing a jacket, sweater, hair clip, or lunch box, please come by and take a look.

Y is for yes, yes, yes, its been a wonderful year! Z is for the zest we give this end-of-school cheer! HOORAY!

Kitchen
We will use all of the things we have learned about using kitchen tools, stirring, measuring, pouring, and following a recipe as we finish up our last month of school.

Music
Woodwinds, Brass, Strings, and Percussion are the four different instrument families. We will be working on sorting instruments into families this month. The children are also getting ready to perform for you the songs and poems they have learned at their Graduation Program.

Social Studies
Past, present, and future can be hard for children to understand. We will be learning about the concept of time this month and discussing things that have happened in the past. This is a good time to review some of the things we have learned throughout the year too.

Science
Experiments are always an exciting way to learn about the world around us. Following instructions accurately, making a prediction, observing the results, and evaluating the outcome are all things we will be working on this month.

Art
Creating something unique and original can be difficult for children because so much of what they do is recreating what they have seen. We are going to focus on creating art that is all our own, like no one else. Well use our imaginations and discover ways to express our own creativity.
