Representation of social group

My social group are people that are aware of what is going on in the world and current affairs, people that watch the news regularly and try to spread the news about whats happening in the world. This aspect is used by Film4 often as they use current affairs which is recognised by everyone in the society such as drug problems and underage sex and so on. In this essay I will be discussing how my opening sequence represents my social group. Camera One of the angles which created this affect is the use of high angle when the interrogator is in the scene at the beginning of the opening sequence; this is where the camera is at a slant where the camera is facing upwards. I used this angle to create a form of domination, to show a sign of fear and toshow the audience who is in control. This represents our audience as when they are spreading the truth about Syria there will always someone bigger trying to stop them. High angle is also used at the end of the opening sequence where Nazir is writing down his feelings; my social group is doing the same behind closed doors, trying to write it on the internet as they cannot be stopped. Another shot that I used that represent my audience is the POV as it allows the audience to be in the same position the character is in. This represents my audience because at the bedroom scene when POV is used when Nazir looks at the note pad and pen that is a form communication which is used to expose the truth and talk about what happened. Editing Mainly through the whole opening sequence, continuity editing was used, this is because majority film 4 films only use continuity editing as they want to make it look simple and realistic. Plus as my target audience are more sophisticated and do not need all the extra editing because too much editing

will not make the film realistic therefore I could lose the social group. I only used one non continuity editing technique which was a jump- cut. This is because I believed it was used appropriately within the scene because it showed the different emotions after Nazir (main character) had a nightmare. This represents my audience as they are aware of the cruelty that can take place across the world from oppressors, they tend to feel and understand different emotions flowing through which is why the jump cut played very well in this part. Sound The music represents the social groups feelings, as they witness the thing that happen in the world they will get angry, emotions that cannot be held in which is seen through base of the music getting deep and louder which signifies a form of their anger. Mise-en-scene The blood used in the beginning is a form of fear and that represents my social group as they are scared to see what is happening in society as the cruelty is harsh and hard to understand. The target audience questions why this is happening in the world? The props used represent my social group. The use of the pen and paper is all about communication and exposing the truth, to communicate to people what is happening in Syria, it can also be seen as a cry for help. My social group are doing the same, as they talk about Syria and try to open people eyes and raise awareness Typography The typography that is used in the opening sequence is Dalli (main title) and Callie hand (opening credits) these are handwriting font and they represent my social group because my main character is trying to do what my social group are trying to do, trying to open people eyes and help other people feel what Nazir went through and million other Syrian civilians and this can only be done by writing about it hence why I used that typography.

Iconography The iconography that I believe that represents my social group is the pen and paper as the pen and paper is used as a form of support to help them be able to spread the truth about Syria or other cruelty which take place in the society and using the pen and paper will make the social group think about what they did trying to help Syria or other cruelty with their limited power. Anchorage The anchorage which is used in this scene is the voiceover of Nazir (main character). The reason why this represents my social group as the voiceover talks about the feelings Nazir has about Syria and my social group try to do the same by talking about how they feel within the society and not being able to do anything due t their limited information and if my social group had access to the information they will be able to make a bigger difference which my main character is trying to.
