This list does not include Uttarayana Punyakala Makara Sankranti (15.01.2012), Id-Milad (05.02.2012), Last Day of Moharam (25.11.2012), which fall on Sundays and Dr. Ambedkar Jayanthi (14.04.2012) which falls on Second Saturday. Government Offices will be closed throughout the State on General Holidays. However Heads of Department should make necessary arrangements for the discharge of urgent work. If any of the Muslim Holidays notified above does not fall on the date notified, Muslims in Government Service may be granted Holiday on the date of observance in lieu of the holidays already notified. Local holiday, is declared for Kodagu District only on account of Tulasankramana on 17.10.2012 (Wednesday) and Huthri Festival on 29.11.2012 (Thursday). Separate list of Holidays will be published by the Commissioner of Public Instructions Bangalore for the Education Department. In addition to the General holidays, the State Government Employees may utilise any of the Restricted Holidays not exceeding two days during the year 2012 with previous permission from the authority who is authorised to sanction casual leave. Under the explanation of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Act No.XXVI of 1881) read with Notification No.20/25/26/Pub-I dated 15.06.1957 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, the following shall be Public Holidays throughout the State of Karnataka during the year 2012. These holidays are declared on 02.04.2012 and 29.09.2012 for closing of Accounts of Commercial Banks and Co-operative Banks only. The Reserve Bank of India will be functioning on these days. However, all the Offices of the Reserve Bank will remain closed for public transactions on July 02 for annual closing of accounts and December 31 will be a working day for Reserve Bank of India.
