Exam Pattern: The questions of the SBI Clerk Written Test are all objective type.

The exam consists of the following papers: 1. Quantitative Aptitude. 2. General Awareness. 3. Reasoning Ability. 4. General English. 5. Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge. There is also a provision for negative marking. For each wrong answer attempted one-fourth mark is deducted. This is applicable for all the objective questions in all the papers mentioned above. So the candidates must be cautious before attempting a question. The questions which one is not sure about should not be attempted. The candidates sitting for the exam have to pass in each of the papers separately and also have to score at least 40% marks in aggregate, i.e. , all the tests considered together. The percentage required by SC/ST/PWD/XS candidates is 35% in aggregate.SBI sends the Acquaint Yourself booklet with the call letter for the written test. SBI clerk test syllabus and preparation:


There is no fixed syllabus for the SBI clerks written test. However, looking at the previous examination papers the candidates can follow the following pattern. General Awareness There would be around 40 questions related to general knowledge. The candidates should prepare for the following topics. General Awareness topics Science and Technology, Economy, Important Awards & Honors, Current national and international Events, Computer Knowledge, Banking Knowledge, Commissions, Appointments, Resignations, Sport, prominent personalities and Polity. English Language This section will also consist of 40 questions. English Language Topics General Grammar, Antonyms, Synonyms, Comprehension of a Passage, Sentence Completion and Vocabulary. Quantitative Aptitude The quantitative section is vast and it will also have 40 questions. Quantitative Aptitude Topics decimals and fractions, whole numbers, relationship between numbers, Ratio & Proportion, HCF & LCM, Simplification, Profit & Loss, Time and Work, Percentage, Partnership, Simple Interest, Time and Distance, Compound Interest, Permutations & Combinations, Number Series, Probability, Approximate Values, Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and so on. Reasoning Ability 40 questions from this section is as under. Reasoning Ability Topics symbols and their relationships, Arithmetical computation, decision making, verbal and figure classification, verbal and non-verbal, analytical functions, space visualization, judgment, problem solving, discrimination, arithmetical number series, visual memory, observation, arithmetical reasoning, relationship concepts, differences, analysis, similarities, analogies, etc. Computer Knowledge and Marketing Aptitude Generally there would be 40 questions, 20 from Computer knowledge and 20 from marketing aptitude.

The SBI Clerk Entrance Exam is carried out by the State Bank of India. The main aim of this exam is to recruit candidates into the clerical posts. The selection of the candidates is done by way of a written test and an interview. Only those candidates who clear the entrance test with high scores will be asked to appear for the interview. Depending on the candidates presentation in the interview, they will be chosen for the job. The minimum qualification that is needed by a person to appear for this exam is a pass in class 12. Those students who have finished their graduation are suitable to apply for the exam too. They ought to have above 60 percent marks as to apply for the exam. Out of this, General English is a mandatory subject. The exam will have duration of 140 minutes. The questions will be of the objective type with multiple choices. This method will permit the students to choose the accurate answer from the set that is provided to them. Negative marking is there in the written test. For every incorrect answer given by the students, 1/4th marks will be taken away from them. Because of this, the students need to be very careful before attempting a question whose answer they are not sure of. Every aspirant of the SBI Clerk Exam should have passed in each one of the objective tests individually and they should get a score of more than 40 percent marks on an aggregate basis.
