Congratulations to the entire community for successfully making it through ELA MCAS testing time. Amazingly, Math MCAS is coming very soon as well so we are all getting ready for that. MCAS does bring its stresses, but it is also important to see it as a great opportunity to show how much all our students have learned. It is a time when we can start to see what all of our hard work has lead to. While we dont get results usually until the end of the summer, we can see the attitude and effort that students bring to testing time and often that is a strong clue of how students are going to do. I am condent good results will follow! Thank you so much to all of you who lled out a survey. We had over 55% of our families respond, which if you know about response rates is a very impressive number! While we are still working on nalizing the ndings, the preliminary results look very promising. 99% of respondents said this is a good school for their child, with 78% denitely agreeing to that statement. Over 90% of parents also said that the school was welcoming, inclusive, safe and emotionally supportive. We are excited by these initial results! We also see in the results that while there is general satisfaction with the academic program, we could be more academically challenging. This is something we are working on, on a daily basis and an area in which I think we are making headway. Finally, there is desire for some sort of extension of the school. We have more work to do in this regard to more clearly understand what is desired and what is possible. We will keep you posted on this as we work on this through the School Site Council. Lastly, I want to give a HUGE thanks to all the parents who helped to organize and volunteer at Discovery Day! The day was a huge success and great to see students interacting with so many wonderful activities. A special thanks to Ben Wetherill, Nancy Lo and Alice Smythe for their work to make it happen!
