Grading: Option One Tests, 2, 45% each Attendance & Participation Option Two Tests, 2, 30% each 60% Final 30% Attendance & Participation 10% You may choose which option you want on May 8. If you do not show up for the final, you automatically will be graded under Option One. Academic Honesty: All students are expected to follow the Universitys academic honesty policies. While students are encouraged to work together on their homework assignments, the tests and final are individual-effort items. Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated. Disability Access: Students with disabilities who need reasonable accommodations are encouraged to contact the instructor. The Disability Programs and Resource Center is available to facilitate the reasonable accommodations. Note to Accounting Majors: Beginning fall 2011, all accounting majors must earn grades of "C" or better in ACCT 100 and 101 to proceed in the accounting concentration. Tutoring: This is a challenging class and many students have found increased success through the regular use of tutors. The Accounting honors society, Beta Alpha Psi, offers free tutoring. When the details are available I will post them on the iLearn page for this class. Tests and Final: The tests will consist of a mix of multiple-choice questions, problems, and short essays based on all material covered in the course, including lectures, class discussion, homework, and readings. The tests will be given during class time as indicated on the schedule below. You must bring your own calculator (one without any text or memory functions) to use during the test. You will not be allowed to use a phone as a calculator. NO MAKE-UP tests will be given except under extraordinary circumstances and with prior approval. You must take the tests on the day you are scheduled; you will receive a zero if you do not show up on the correct date. Attendance, Participation & Homework: You are expected to read the chapters and do the written assignments before the class dates indicated on the following schedule. I call on all students virtually every day. You are expected to be on time for class. I take attendance on the days I introduce a chapter. Some students find the material easier than others do, so on the days marked Homework day below I will not take attendance. You are responsible for finding out from classmates what you missed on days you do not come to class. If you are never late, miss zero or one mandated class, are always prepared and consistently show clear evidence that you have done all the homework and read the chapters, you will earn an A for participation. If you miss two or fewer classes, are rarely or never late, and show that you are prepared for class and make an effort when called on, you will earn a B for participation. Tardiness, absences, not reading the chapters and not doing the homework will all reduce your participation grades to the C, D, or F range. The Solutions Manual for the homework is available on Ilearn. 90% 10%
